Lebanon: 4,304 people killed, 12,203 injured since renewed Israeli offensive

Monday 6-July-2026

BEIRUT, (PIC)

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health announced Sunday that the death toll from Israel’s military offensive has risen to 4,304 people killed while 12,203 were injured between March 2 and July 5.

In a brief statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said the figures include all those killed and wounded since Israel renewed and expanded its military operations in early March, following the period after the ceasefire agreement that took effect in November 2024.

The rising casualty toll comes as Israeli airstrikes and military operations continue despite previous efforts and agreements aimed at securing a ceasefire, including the April 17 agreement, with violations continuing to be reported on the ground.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s healthcare system continues to face mounting pressure as hospitals respond to the steady influx of casualties while ongoing field monitoring and documentation efforts continue across southern Lebanon, the Biqaa' Valley, and Beirut’s southern suburbs.

ýIsraeli raids and bombings in southern Lebanon amid ongoing military escalationý ý

Palestine on Line, 06 July 2026.

ýIsraeli bombardment of southern Lebanoný ýToday, the Israeli occupation army escalated its violations in southern Lebanon, by launching airstrikes and carrying out bombing operations targeting a number of villages and border towns, in conjunction with field operations that affected strategic mountain sites.ý ý

Local sources reported that the Israeli warplanes targeted the town of Hula, while the Israeli occupation forces carried out bombing operations in the towns of Beit Yahoun and Kafr Tibnit, where explosions were heard in large areas of the south, which raised a state of tension among the residents.ý ý

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli forces continue to carry out bombings inside the town of 'Houla, as part of ongoing military movements along the border strip.ý

ýIn this context, Israel's Channel 12 quoted security sources as saying that Hezbollah elements are still deployed in areas within the so-called "yellow line", including Bint Jbeil, Deir Syrian and Majdal Zone, noting that ending their presence in those areas requires more time.ý ý

The reports added that the Israeli occupation army began an intensive air operation targeting areas in the heights of 'Ali El-Tahir and El-Nabatiyeh El-Fawqa, north of the Litani River, in conjunction with warnings issued to the residents of the Upper Galilee of the possibility of hearing the sounds of strong explosions as a result of military operations. ý ý

This escalation comes in light of the continuation of Israeli military operations in violation of the ceasefire agreement sponsored by Washington.ý

ýThe toll of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon has risen to 4303 martyrs as attacks continue in the south despite the framework agreement ý

ýAlquds, UK, July 6, 2026ý

ýýAl-Quds Al-Arabi:

The Lebanese Ministry of Health counted two martyrs and 3 wounded during the past 24 hours, raising the toll of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon to 4,303 martyrs and 12,202 wounded, since March 2, 2026, at a time when Israel continues its attacks on the south of the country, albeit at a limited pace, despite the framework agreement signed between the two sides last week.

ýIn its daily report, the ministry said that it "counted two martyrs and 3 wounded in the last 24 hours," adding that "the cumulative total of the aggression from March 2 to July 4 reached 4,303 martyrs and 12,202 wounded."ý

ýOn the ground, an Israeli drone dropped a stun grenade on the town of Yater in southern Lebanon on Saturday afternoon, without causing any injuries, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency.ý

ýAn Israeli drone was also recorded flying at a low altitude over the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut.ý

ýEarlier on Saturday, an Israeli drone launched a raid on the town of al-Mansouri, while Israeli artillery shelled Jabal Basil off the towns of Ramaya and Beit Lev in southern Lebanon.ý

ýAt dawn on Saturday, Israeli forces opened fire towards the town of Hadatha and the outskirts of the towns of Kunin and al-Tiri.ý

ýIn a related context, a ERW bomb exploded in the Tulane-Qalawi Valley, and munitions from the remnants of war exploded in the town of Siddiqin, without any injuries.ý

ýOn June 26, 2026, Beirut and Tel Aviv, under the auspices of the United States, signed a "framework agreement" that provides for a "sequential" Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, starting with two unnamed pilot zones.ý

ýHowever, the agreement did not set a timetable for the withdrawal from the two areas or from all Lebanese territory, linking this to the Lebanese army alone assuming full and effective security responsibility in the areas from which it withdraws, and disarming all non-state armed groups, with particular reference to Hezbollah.ý

ýWhile Lebanese officials considered the agreement a "first step" towards restoring the sovereignty of the state over its entire territory and the return of the displaced to their towns, Hezbollah described it as "non-existent" and "humiliating", considering that linking the Israeli withdrawal to its disarmament "crossed red lines", while its supporters blocked roads in Beirut in protest against the agreement.ý

ýIsrael continues to occupy areas in southern Lebanon, some for decades, and others it controlled during the war between 2023 and 2024, and during its current aggression, it has expanded its incursion to more than 10 kilometers inside Lebanese territory, in its deepest advance since its withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000.ý

Arab League condemns Israeli demolition in Bint Jubail, South Lebanon

 Al-Mayadeen, July 6, 2026

Arab League Secretary-General Nabeel El-'Araby calls Israeli demolition in South Lebanon collective punishment and a breach of international law.

Arab League Secretary-General Nabeel El-'Araby on Sunday condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ demolition of an entire neighborhood in the city of Bint Jubail, in southern Lebanon, asserting that it represents “an extension of the barbaric and brutal behavior” practiced by "Israel".

In an official statement, El-'Araby said that “the policy of collective punishment against residents constitutes a blatant and unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law.” He stressed that targeting civilian areas exacerbates the suffering of non-combatants and undermines the foundational rules of international law.

The Arab League chief called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance against the Israeli expansionist drive. He reiterated the urgent need to halt all violations and provide protection for civilians across the region.

The Israeli military continues to breach the ceasefire agreement through a series of ongoing operations, including airstrikes carried out by warplanes and drones, the dropping of explosive ordnance from surveillance aircraft, and artillery shelling and ground-sweeping operations. Explosive demolition operations in several villages have caused massive destruction, the largest of which occurred in the town of Majdal Zoun, where a detonation reportedly split the village in two.

'Israel' delayed Majdal Zoun detonation until Lebanon signed framework deal

Israeli media reports have revealed that the massive demolition in Majdal Zoun was carried out after "Israel" secured Lebanon's signature on the widely rejected US-brokered framework agreement.

According to the Makor Rishon newspaper on July 4, occupation troops transported tons of explosives into a tunnel beneath the village before detonating them in one of the largest such operations in the area, flattening the terrain, dramatically altering the town's landscape, and effectively splitting it in two.

Forces on the ground were reportedly instructed to delay the blast until the agreement was finalized, after which they were given the green light to proceed.

The trilateral deal was met with widespread protests across several Lebanese regions, as well as mounting political and popular condemnation.

Senior officials and lawmakers denounced the text as asymmetrical and accused it of entrenching and legitimizing the occupation, particularly as Israeli leaders have explicitly stated their intention to remain in southern Lebanon and reserve the right to operate freely, including through extrajudicial killings and assassinations of Lebanese residents.

Military expert: The battle of 'Ali El-Tahir heights will be costly for Israel

Monday 6-July-2026

BEIRUT, (PIC)

The recent Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon has brought the 'Ali El-Tahir heights back to the forefront of the military scene, after the occupation forces intensified their raids on the area amid indicators that observers see as a prelude to a potential ground move. While estimates speak of an Israeli attempt to impose a new field equation, military experts warn that any incursion into these strategic hills could open up a wide confrontation with Hezbollah, given their military importance and the nature of their defenses.

Fiery prelude preceding the ground move

Israeli Channel 12 reported that the army launched an attack on the 'Ali El-Tahir heights area, while the Upper Galilee Regional Council informed the residents of the settlements that they would hear the sound of explosions resulting from the attacks in southern Lebanon.

The military and strategic expert, Retired Brigadier General Khaleel El-Jumayil, believes that the nature of the Israeli operations indicates that what is happening goes beyond mere limited raids, explaining that the Israeli army usually relies on a wide fiery prelude to isolate the operations area and prevent the arrival of fighters or supplies to it before any ground move, according to Al Jazeera.

He added that the shelling targeting the villages and towns surrounding the 'Ali El-Tahir heights falls within this framework, expecting the strikes to continue for hours before moving to a new stage with the onset of night, which is the timing during which Israel is accustomed to executing its ground operations.

He pointed out that the scale of the airstrikes is disproportionate to a limited targeting operation, as it was possible to execute such missions using drones, which reinforces, according to his estimation, the hypothesis of preparing for a ground incursion into parts of the heights.

He noted that the 'Ali El-Tahir heights extend for about three kilometers, and any incursion at its beginning may be limited to specific parts of them, but the nature of the current movements is consistent with the military method followed by the Israeli army before any field advance.

'Hizbullah’s readiness and field complexities

El-Jumayil confirmed that Hezbollah will be ready to defend the area, expecting that the fire support units deployed in Iqleem El-Tuffa'h and neighboring areas will begin executing support operations to prevent Israeli forces from establishing any presence inside the hills.

He added that Israel tried during previous stages to advance in the area, but faced great field difficulties due to the rugged geographical nature and defensive readiness, making any new attempt more complex and costly.

He explained that the 'Ali El-Tahir heights constitute the main line of defense for southern Lebanon and the El-Nabatiyeh district, suggesting that violent confrontations would break out if the escalation develops into a direct ground operation.

He also pointed out that any advance inside the network of tunnels scattered in the area would place Israeli forces before complex fighting conditions, unless a collapse occurs in Hezbollah’s defensive system, a scenario he said is not supported by any field indicators so far.

Despite Israel possessing military capabilities that qualify it to reach the heights if it makes a decision to do so, El-Jumayil stressed that achieving this goal would have a high military and human cost.

The policy of “nibbling” and the possibilities of expanding the confrontation

El-Jumayil considered that Israel relies on a policy of gradual “nibbling” of the heights, by combining airstrikes, fire pressure, and limited ground advance, instead of executing a broad operation all at once.

He explained that the 'Ali El-Tahir heights grant whoever controls them a great field advantage, as they overlook wide areas of southern Lebanon and the vicinity of El-Nabatiyeh, making them a controlling point in managing military operations.

He added that Israel views these hills as being within the areas it believes it had previously controlled, and sees that any military operation in them does not conflict, from its point of view, with existing arrangements, although actual control over them has not been achieved on the ground.

He believed that any ground incursion could push Hezbollah to expand the circle of response by targeting Israeli settlements with rockets, in an attempt to pressure the internal front and impose a new deterrence equation, a matter that could reignite the entire southern front.

This escalation comes at a time when the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the toll of victims of the Israeli aggression since the second of March has risen to 4,303 dead and 12,203 wounded, amid the continuation of military tension despite efforts aimed at stabilizing the calm on the border.
