The Fox Guarding the Chicken Coop: Dennis Ross and Iran

By SASAN FAYAZMANESH

In October 2008 I presented a paper, entitled “What the Future has in Store for Iran,” at a conference on Middle East Studies. The paper, which was subsequently posted at Payvand.com , examined what the US policy toward Iran might look like if either Barack Obama or John McCain came to office. The conclusion of my essay, stated in its last two lines, was: “In the case of McCain, the war [waged against Iran] might come sooner than later. In Obama’s case, one might see a period of ‘tough’ or ‘aggressive diplomacy’ before hostilities begin.”

My conclusion was based on the argument that the US foreign policy toward the Middle East has become institutionalized and it makes very little difference who is the president. The starting point of the argument was an analysis that appeared in The Jerusalem Post just before the Bush Administration took office, predicting that the US Middle East policy would be made more by the neoconservative forces within the new administration than anyone else. In one essay, on December 8, 2000, The Jerusalem Post wrote that both Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz “are the type of candidates the pro-Israel lobby is pushing.” In another article on January 19, 2001, entitled “All the president’s Middle East men,” The Jerusalem Post expressed how the “Jewish and pro-Israel communities are jumping for joy,” knowing that people like Wolfowitz will be in the new administration. The essay predicted: “What you will have are two institutions grappling for control of policy.” It then added: “It is no secret in Washington–or anywhere else for that matter–that the policies will be determined less by Bush himself and more by his inner circle of advisers.”

Commentary at the above article:

Editor,

Professor Fayazmanesh is, sadly, 100 percent correct. All men and women of goodwill should salute him for his excellent research and writing. Noteworthy too is the fact that every policy-maker that he mentions , with the exceptions of Bolton, Clawson, and Woolsey are eligible for Israeli citizenship upon landing at the Tel Aviv airport.

Given that the American response to the Israeli savagery in  Gaza was to make sure that the IDF did not run short of armaments, and the European response was to hold a conference in Copenhagen dedicated to enhancing European interdiction of arms for Hamas, the ruling circles in Tel Aviv are further emboldened. The Iranian leadership should carefully consider that the new Israeli government later in 2009 may well unleash a truly devastating attack  on their citizens.

"Israel's $2 Billion Dollar Rail System" and Zionist colonizers

I believe that your complain should be centered on the following part of the article below:

Who Lives There? The Israeli settlers are the undesirables of the Jewish society. When Poland flushed it's sewers the waste wound up on these hilltop settlements, and today's settlers are the result of close interbreeding.

I don’t see here what you  are complaining about in this quote:

Is it about the Jewish Zionist settlers, who are stealing Palestinian Arab public and private property and flooding Arab towns and villages with their sewage, destroying their fields and uprooting their trees and attacking them when harvesting their crops etc etc.?

Is this calling these Jewish only settlements, or the quality of those colonizers undesirable Polish sewage products, if you ask me they are exactly so, they are savages. I read today a  news article about a Zionist Jew who lead a Palestinian Arab taxi driver and stabbed him 24 times and didn’t stop till the victim died, and to defend himself in a Zionist court he said: “Arabs are like animals, his killing is like the killing of any animal, Arabs has no souls, I decided to kill an Arab, just because he is an Arab”!!!

But what other than sewage product is such a community, but what is worse than that is the court’s rule that a man who insisted on justifying his crime as such, is to refer such a criminal to psychotherapy in a hospital rather than put him on trial to receive a just punishment. For a court to take such a stance is much much worse than if the executive system taking such a decision. This is a state that itself as a whole needs psychotherapy, not simply one of its foreign residents, I mean and repeat foreign residents and not citizens, because they are so not only those who are colonizing the West Bank and strangling the Gaza Strip, but every imported Zionist Jew colonizing all occupied Palestine.

Had you followed up with my writing you would have noticed that I differentiate between a Judaism and Zionism, as there are non Zionist Jews and there are Zionists who are non Jewish.

By the ay I am not the author of this article, I just circulated without comment.

2 anti-Islam Articles in the BOSTON GLOBE

THE BOSTON GLOBE
Boston, MA

Dear Editor:

Re: Dark Passages by Philip Jenkins, March 9, 2009 - Ideas Section

Please do not see this letter as anti-Semitic. It is just a view that comes from reading books that differ from such tripe as seen in this article.

We really get a kick out of how the Boston Globe gets away with (usually Jewish) journalists who (1) profane the religion of Islam and are totally dedicated to (2) downing the Catholic Church and exposing the evils of some of the priests. (Hitler also did the second).

The Boston Globe has never except once written of an indecent Rabbi molesting young boys. There are many thousands of reports such as these on the Internet. But the Globe has written many hundreds of items on the Catholic priests committing same.

Now comes the first page of the Ideas Section in the Boston Globe this Sunday, March 8, 2009.

Of the three main religions, we never see the Jewish religion kicked around as badly as is done to the other two. Why? We should all look more into the sayings of Maimonides, studied well and taken seriously, but not by most.

Just a few quotes can be had from the Talmud which rabbis and students study faithfully. We won't go into it now. But there is much animosity portrayed in the Talmud against the non-Jew and rules to follow, so much so that it is obvious that the reader must see that there is great racial prejudice against what is sometimes called the "goy." In these teachings, the non-Jew is not seen as equal to the Jew. This can be seen today in the treatment given by Israel to the "Other." Many intellectuals deduct that in the Talmud, Jesus and Mary are described in humiliating passages. This of course is emphatically denied.

Jenkins quotes freely from evil passages in both the Old and New Testament regarding ethnic cleansing and segregation. Why doesn't he mention same that comes from the Talmud?

It's disgraceful what the media has done to downgrade and decry the beautiful religion of Islam, because of a small percentage of extremists. The Boston Globe should do an expose of not just some of the segregationist teachings in the Talmud, but also against the American evangelists who would be ready "Old-Testament" style to kill everyone who would oppose the racism going on in Israel against the Palestinian people.

Jenkins wraps it up with what he calls "holy amnesia" which portends that with the Koran and the Bible people tend to think positive of the growth of these religions. But taking a look at all of the other material he places within the article, it's difficult to give belief to any sort of "holy amnesia."

In this article which takes time to quoting murderous revenge in the Bible and also in the Koran, one cannot but identify with the reality of the recent massacre of nearly 1,400 Palestinian civilians by Israel. Yet Israel is not stopped. It is known that many ignorant evangelicals side strongly with Israel.  What is wrong with this picture?

Sincerely

Paul Bradford

Second Letter to the Editor:

Re: Islam and Freedom of Speech

Of course, Jacoby would be involved in this Q&A. This article deals with
the hatred of one bigot: Geert Wilders. The film "Fitna" should be ostracized
Wilders should be denied access to writing in an American newspaper.

Talk of Freedom of Speech denied by Islam? Does the Globe allow letters
such as the ones we write to be published? No. of course not. They follow
only one ideology and it is not on the side of Islam or the Arabs.

We have a very large file of professors and others who differ on opinions
of the Holocaust and have spoken out. And they've been fired! American
politicians have had their speeches canceled or been voted out because of
their differences. It is event that Freedom of Speech is already snuffed out here in America.

And, in Germany, say anything that differs by one number of the
total killed in the Holocaust, and it's jail for you. Try to purchase
Hitler's "Mein Kampf"? Forget it. It's against the law. Talk of book
burning. Such control!

Islam is not any more guilty of stopping Freedom of Speech than the
American press is. Sins of omission unfortunately abide within the press.

And if Jacoby stopped ranting anti-Muslim, anti-Arab op-eds but changed
over to exposing what some Talmudic writers have espoused,
he'd be immediately stricken from his job at the Boston Globe.

Sincerely,
The Bradfords

Join Atlanta’s DAY OF ACTION Against War & Occupation

The invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan by the US military have caused massive death and destruction to the peoples of those countries. Thousands of US military service men and women have died or been grievously injured, and hundreds of billions of dollars wasted waging war. As millions of Americans lose their jobs, healthcare, and homes, it is time for the wasteful spending on endless military occupations to end and for the needs of working people, families and students to be addressed.

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition (GPJC) will mark the sixth anniversary of the Iraq warwith a series of events in Atlanta on Thursday, March 19th. The Atlanta events are one stop on the state-wide “Cost of War” tour of Georgia college campuses taking place during the week of March 16-22. Events in Atlanta include:

3:00 pm – Educational Forum, Georgia State University, Aderhold Learning Center, Room 24, 60 Luckie St. AFSC’s critically acclaimed Cost of War exhibit will be on display along with two powerful speakers. Raed Jarrar was born in Baghdad and spent most of his life in Iraq.  Jarrar came to the United States in 2005 and has worked on many Iraq-related projects, as a translator, interpreter, consultant and political analyst. Since the summer of 2006, he has worked to bridge the gap between Iraqi leaders and U.S. Congress members by arranging a series of face-to-face meetings between U.S. and Iraqi leaders. Jason Hurd is the southeast regional director of Iraq Veterans against the War.  Jason spent ten years in the Army and National Guard and was deployed in 2005 to Iraq as a medic. Since returning to the U.S. he has been an advocate for Iraq veterans and a leading voice in the G.I. resistance movement.

4:30 pm – Rally and March from Woodruff Park, Peachtree and Auburn streets, to CNN Center, Marietta and Centennial OlympicPark. Atlanta Says No to More War.” Veterans will lead a demonstration demanding that CNN report the true cost of war. The US invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan have caused massive death and destruction and wasted hundreds of billions of dollars. The march will assemble at 4:30 pm at Woodruff Park and march at 5 to CNN.

8:00 pm – Free Concert, Metropolitan Warehouses, 675 Metropolitan Parkway (Fishmarket D-125). Music by Futureshock, The Black Pockets, Contraverse and The Wild.
