UK Activists Challenge Veolia to End Illegal
Settlement Activities in Palestine Representatives of
British civil society will hand in a letter to Veolia’s headquarters in
London on Thursday 3rd of December 2009, calling on Veolia to cease its
support for Israel’s continuing violation of international law and to
terminate all its services to Israeli settlements in the West Bank and
East Jerusalem. The letter is signed by among others Clare Short
MP, Canon Garth Hewitt, Miriam Margolyes OBE, Dr Caroline Lucas MEP,
Baroness Jenny Tonge, Prof Karma Nabulsi and William Dalrymple.
The letter to Veolia is part of an international campaign, coordinated by
the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in the UK, asking Veolia to stop its
involvement in the illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian
Territories. Veolia, through its light rail tramway contract, its
Israeli-only bus services and its Tovlan landfill site is facilitating
Israel’s illegal settlements and thus aiding and abetting Israeli war
crimes. For more information and a copy of the letter with the
full list of signatories please contact the Palestine Solidarity Campaign:
