US Presidential Election Campaigns, Iran, and
Israel

As the presidential elections heads into final two month, Iraq,
Afghanistan, Israel and Iran are the topic of debate for the candidates
and the concerned of the voters. However, the drums of war against Iran
are beating louder, due to Iran’s pursuit of nuclear technology. The
question is will Bush administration strike Iran nuclear facilities
before November elections or wait for the outcome of the elections and
then decide to strike?
The failure of previous as well as Bush administration to forge a new
relationship with Tehran after the overthrow of the shah and the birth
of the Islamic Republic has been the biggest mistake of the United State
foreign policy. And what seem clear is that McCain presidency will be no
different because it is staffed by the same neo-cons and special
interest group that pushed us into war against Iraq, with equal fervor,
Bush administration is been pressing for war against Iran, demonizing
Iran as a greatest threat to Israel and the entire world.
Sen. Obama has spoken of wanting to engage in a dialogue with Iran and
seem to understand the necessity of rebuilding America’s Image with
third world, and with the world of Islam in particular. He is surrounded
by group of realistic advisor who understands that last eight years of
Bush Administration has totally failed to forge the peace between
Palestinians and Israelis and United State has failed to check Israel’s
relentless grab of Palestinian land, siege of Gaza and provides four
billion dollars a year of aid to Israel with no accountability and
transparency.
Sen. Obama is willing to rethink and correct the neo-con argument that
9/11 was response of the extremism sector of Islam but, rather that the
enrage response by the attacker of 9/11 was due to the hypocrisy and
double standard policies in the Middle East and of the US military
bases in the Muslim world
On the contrary, far from eliminating terrorism the “Global War on
Terror” has bred a new generation of militant. Saddam Hussein’s Iraq had
nothing to do with 9/11 nor did it possessed weapons of mass
destruction. But Israel and neo-cons saw it a potential threat to the
exclusive Jewish state. A case was therefore made, on the basis of
fraudulent inteligence to demonized Iraq, occupy and destroy the
infrastructure in 2003. Millions of Iraqis have been killed and over
four millions displaced from their homes or driven into exile, due to
the neo-cons policy of war on terror.
