Obama White House Chief of Staff: How Tragic and Disappointing

By Michael Halpern

ccun.org, November 7, 2008

Professors Mearsheimer and Walt come back – all is forgiven! AIPAC apparently does indeed run both America and the Middle East! The most important members of President-elect Obama’s new administration, we now learn, turn out to be closet Zionists and supporters of the Israeli government agenda.

Now we understand why that strangely unexpected promise was given by the then official Democratic candidate, to the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, not to allow east Jerusalem to be the capital of a future Palestinian state.  That strangely uncalled for undertaking, had, we now see, the finger marks of that very clever new White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, all over it.

So much for the promise of a new order, a new world, peace at last in the Middle East and a clean break from the past! How tragic and how unutterably disappointing – just 48 hours in.
