Islam and the West: Conflict Terminology in a World Economic Forum Report The following is a link to a 2008 World Economic Forum report about the state of dialog between what the report authors describe incorrectly as "Islam and the West." How can there be a dialog between a religion (Islam) and the West (an incorrect term to refer to North Europe and North America)? A dialog can be between leaders of two religions, in this case Islam and Christianity, not between a religion and people. A more accurate title is "The Muslim and Western worlds: ...." The implication of using the term "Islam" instead of "Muslim" is that there may be a distraction of people from the root causes of the global conflicts, invasions and foreign occupations. The problem with this imperialistic justification of conflict is that people have always resisted foreign invaders, throughout history, irrelevant of the religion of the invaders or the invaded. Anyway, part of the report is a Gallup poll, surveying opinions of people in various countries, readers can find it on pages 20-28. http://www.weforum.org/pdf/C100/Islam_West.pdf
