 Jewish Teens Wiser Than Evangelicals

By Harmony Grant

ccun.org, December 6, 2008

National Prayer Network resists the anti-Christ spirit and goals of Talmudic Judaism, which victimizes the Jewish people by shutting out the loving sunlight of Christ and His gospel. We don’t hate Jews. In fact, here’s an appreciative shout-out to some young Jewish teens showing more wisdom than much of the American church.

In Israel, five high school seniors, “schministim,” would rather be locked up in jail than serve in the Israeli army to occupy and oppress Palestinians. Jewish Voice for Peace has begun a campaign to support them. Nineteen-year-old Yuval Oron-Ofir from an Arab-Jewish village, is currently in jail. (Since its actions have sparked so much bad press, the Israeli government has used bureaucratic loopholes to keep the other conscientious objectors out of jail.) Yuval’s declaration of refusal is eloquent and moving. Here is part:
For 41 years now, Israel has been imposing an occupation of lands that are not its own. Lacking any moral justification or values, it rules over these lands by armed force…My conscience does not allow me to join an organization that demolishes, by fiat of the state, the homes of innocent people, kills children who are not part of the armed fighting, and which prevents sick people from getting due treatment. The army interferes with the freedom of movement, undermines human rights and robs people of their land because they are not Jews. Implementing government orders, the Israeli army brings oppression and terror upon three and a half million Palestinians. With every day that passes, more people sink into this mire …

This young Jew’s conviction comes from eyewitness experience. He sees his government acting like a ghoulish thug, throwing elderly Palestinians from their home in the middle of the night in actions so brutish even Britain and the US tried to intervene. He sees the truth of Israel, not the attractive side shown evangelical tourists. Christians who want to Biblically “bless God’s chosen people” will have to ask which Jews are meant: Jews who occupy Israel in defiance of Christ, or Jews like Yuval who resist that forceful and bloody regime?

These rare Israeli kids aren’t the only Jews resisting Zionist oppressions. In Britain, an Anglican church is facing a lot of flack for hosting an event called “Bethlehem Now” sponsored by [American] Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods and a Palestinian activist group. The event “featured carols that had been rewritten,” says the London Times. The Twelve Days of Christmas was sung as: “Twelve assassinations/ Eleven homes demolished/ Ten wells obstructed/ Nine sniper towers/ Eight gunships firing/ Seven checkpoints blocking/ Six tanks a-rolling/ Five settlement rings/ Four falling bombs/ Three trench guns/ Two trampled doves/ And an uprooted olive tree.” Who rewrote the carol? According to the Times, the culprit was “an unnamed Jewish parody writer.”

Whether grandly sublime or bitingly curt, these Jewish voices of protest speak the forbidden truth. Christians, more than any people, should appreciate that. We worship Christ, the ultimate enemy of the Zionist project. Our Bibles print in red His searing words about Jewish leaders’ rebellious, racist false religion. These words apply as much to modern Talmudic leaders as to the scribes and Pharisees who wrote that grisly book. Christ said:
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are…Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former…Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. (23:15, 23, 27)

Christ called for the Pharisees to repent of their racist, legalistic false worship and receive new hearts. They rejected this bracing truth with contempt and homicidal hatred, immortalized in their Babylonian Talmud (See, The Talmud: Scalpel that Bleeds the Mideast and U.S. Government, Talmud Mock New Testament). They rejected His message; today Jews who embrace their Talmud continue that rejection. When American Christians support such Talmudic Jews, they are in this way farther from the true spirit of Christ than the teenage Israeli pacifists.

Today, the Judaism we resist is not about race or ethnicity. It is about a revolutionary spirit born at Golgotha, where the ancestors of modern Judaism crucified their redeemer. Some Jews wept and knelt, receiving their unexpected king. But most called for His crucifixion. They spat on the One who offered spiritual not political salvation, who demanded repentance from sin instead of calling to arms against the Romans.

Today, the light of Christ is still in the world—radically spiritual, politically incorrect, calling us to repentance from sin above all else. The spirit of the crucifying Pharisees is still in this world, too, most distilled in the bloody, racist, religiously legalistic state of Israel. Some Jews, like 19-year-old Yuval, recognize at least that the Israel they want to love is actually a nightmare. In this, they see more clearly than many American believers.

I pray Yuval finds the full light of Christ and meets the true Source of human rights, justice and peace. But until Jesus returns, I for one will continue to resist that spirit of antichrist that this Jewish teen, in his own way, also finds so appalling.
