By Don Nash ============================= CAIR Condemns Israeli ‘Massacre’ in Gaza Obama urged to speak ‘in favor of peace and justice for all parties’ (WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/27/08) - A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today condemned Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that left more than 200 people dead and called the death toll a “massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons.” More than 700 people, including women and children, were injured in the attacks. The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said in a statement: “Despite the public ‘green light’ given to the Israeli military by the Bush administration, American Muslims join our fellow citizens who respect international law and the sanctity of human life in repudiating this massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons. “It must be clear by now that the only future offered to the Palestinian people by the outgoing administration was one of perpetual subjugation and humiliation at the hands of the Israeli occupiers. Unfortunately, our nation’s timid response to this tragic episode will only serve to fuel anti-American sentiments in the Muslim world. “We therefore call on President-elect Obama to demonstrate his commitment to change our nation’s current one-sided Mideast policy by speaking out now in favor of peace and justice for all parties to this decades-long conflict. “We also call on world leaders to take direct action to end Israel’s counterproductive and wildly disproportionate attacks and to end the humanitarian siege of Gaza, which led to the recent breakdown of the ceasefire.” CAIR noted that the European Union (EU), Russia, the UN Secretary-General, the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and other international bodies are all urging Israel to end it attacks. Middle East envoy Tony Blair deplored the "tragic of loss of life,” while French President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned Israel’s “disproportionate use of force.” EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said the Israeli attacks were "inflicting an unacceptable toll on Palestinian civilians and will only worsen the humanitarian crisis as well as complicate the search for a peaceful solution.” CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) Condemns
Israel's Massacre of Palestinians in Gaza Email: media@mcb.org.uk. ============================== Gaza massacre – Israel’s cynicism supported by the West’s complicity Press release: 27.12.08 Today the Israeli army launched its long awaited strikes against the Gazan people, an unarmed, captive civilian population. The West, including the British government, has supported the last two years’ of blockade of the Palestinians in Gaza for the crime of exercising their democratic rights in a manner not to Israel’s liking. They have stood by while the people have been reduced to beggars dependent upon food aid, aid which has been consistently denied to them by Israel’s siege, resulting in malnutrition, trauma and deaths from medical neglect. This siege has been accompanied by regular military attacks on Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank as Israel is allowed to act with impunity. The passage of 100 trucks of aid yesterday, in the BBC’s words ‘to prevent Israel being accused of a causing humanitarian crisis’ is a cynical diversion which does not fool anyone despite the hopes of our cowardly leaders. The British government must condemn outright the current assault on Gaza, and immediately demand that the UN takes steps to end the siege with the restoration of full freedom of the borders of Gaza. Protests organised by PSC, Palestine Return Centre (PRC), Palestinian Forum of Britain (PFB), British Muslim Initiative (BMI), Stop the War, Friends of al Aqsa, Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), Respect, Islamic Human Rights Commission. Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Email: info@palestinecampaign.org ============================== The war in Gaza – a vicious folly of a bankrupt government Bloodshed and suffering on both sides of the border could have been avoided It is possible to return immediately to the ceasefire, make it stronger and firmer The war in Gaza, the bloodshed, killing, destruction and suffering on both sides of the border are the vicious folly of a bankrupt government. A government which let itself be dragged by adventurous officers and cheap nationalist demagoguery, dragged into a destructive and unnecessary war which will bring no solution to any problem – neither to the communities of southern Israel under the rain of missiles nor to the terrible poverty and suffering of besieged Gaza. On the day after the war the same problems will remain – with the addition of many bereaved families, wounded people crippled for life, and piles of rubble and destruction. The escalation towards war could and should have been avoided. It was the State of Israel which broke the truce, in the 'ticking tunnel' raid on the night of the US elections two months ago. Since then the army went on stoking the fires of escalation with calculated raids and killings, whenever the shooting of missiles on Israel decreased. The cycle of bloodshed could and should be broken. The ceasefire can be restored immediately, and on firmer foundations. It is the right of Israel to demand a complete end to shooting on its territory and citizens – but it must stop all attacks from its side, end completely the siege and starvation of Gaza's million and half inhabitants, and stop interfering with the Palestinians' right to choose their own leaders. Ehud Barak's declaration that he is stopping the elections campaign in order to concentrate on the Gaza offensive is a joke. The war in Gaza is itself Barak's elections campaign, a cynical attempt to buy votes with the blood and suffering in Netivot and Sderot, Gaza and Beit Hanun. Also so-called peace seekers such as Amos Oz s who give this offensive their support and encouragement could not afterwards shrug off responsibility. This violence is making the already tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza much worse. LIFE for Relief and Development will continue its efforts to provide emergency relief to the residents of Gaza, as we have done for the past three years. Our regional office in Nazareth is closely monitoring the situation and reports that the most urgently needed items are emergency medical supplies to treat wounded civilians, as well as food, which is already scarce. We call on our donors to contribute to our Gaza Emergency Fund so that we can ease the suffering of as many Palestinians as possible. You can use your Zakat for this project, and all donations made to LIFE are tax-deductible. Since the beginning of the blockade in January 2008, LIFE has provided food and clothes to thousands of families across Gaza. In fact the food that has been distributed in Gaza is enough to make approximately 1.5 MILLION MEALS. Please don’t wait! Donate now and do your part to ease the suffering of the people of Gaza. LIFE for Relief and Development is a 501c3 tax-exempt charity that has distributed nearly $100 million in humanitarian assistance around the world to victims of hunger, poverty, and natural disasters. LIFE holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. To learn more visit www.lifeusa.org. ===========================
U.S. Muslim Leaders to Address Gaza Crisis On Monday, December 29, the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections (AMT), a coalition of 12 major Islamic organizations, will hold a 10 a.m. news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to release an open letter to President-elect Obama outlining suggested domestic and foreign policy priorities for the new administration. At that news conference, the Muslim leaders will also address the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Official Says (CNN) CAIR ACTION ALERT #556 Urge Congress, President to Stop Israeli ‘Massacre’ in Gaza Contact President-elect Obama and media outlets to demand a balanced Mideast policy (WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/28/08) The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on American Muslims and other people of conscience to contact their elected representatives and urge them to condemn Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that have killed almost 300 people and injured hundreds more, including women and children. In its bombardment of Gaza, Israel has targeted at least one mosque, a university and a warehouse for medical supplies. SEE: Israel Pounds Gaza for Second Day, 296 Killed (Reuters) CAIR also called on anyone concerned about the “disproportionate and counterproductive” Israeli attacks to call radio talk show programs, write letters to the editor and use social media websites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to voice their concerns. Those contacting the media or using social media networks are being asked to offer support for the Palestinian right to freedom from occupation, to call for an end to the Israeli blockade of humanitarian supplies to Gaza and to demand a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Yesterday, CAIR issued a statement condemning the Israeli attacks and calling on President-elect Obama to speak out on the crisis. CAIR’s statement read in part: “American Muslims join our fellow citizens who respect international law and the sanctity of human life in repudiating this massacre carried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons. “We therefore call on President-elect Obama to demonstrate his commitment to change our nation’s current one-sided Mideast policy by speaking out now in favor of peace and justice for all parties to this decades-long conflict.” IMMEDIATE ACTIONS REQUESTED: (Always be polite and respectful.) 1) CONTACT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES and ask them to publicly condemn Israel’s “disproportionate and excessive” attacks on the Gaza Strip. Point out that such attacks block efforts to bring peace with justice to the Middle East, harm our nation’s image and interests worldwide and strengthen voices of extremism in the region. Ask your elected officials to adopt an ever-handed Middle East policy that is in our nation’s, not Israel’s interest. Other points: The Palestinian people must be given some hope of freedom from Israeli occupation and domination. Israel’s immoral and illegal collective punishment of the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip must end. America must support a just and comprehensive resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that takes into account the rights and responsibilities of all parties. Contact President George W. US Administration blames the victims for their own massacre DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Dec 27, 2008 Editor CE- The "rocket attacks on Israel are simply a protest, much like a prisoner hurling his shoes at his captors, except that the Gazans hove no shoes to throw so they shoot off what amounts to homemade fireworks. It is rare for Israelis to be killed or wounded by these acts of protest against those who are systematically starving them, and neither the US or Israel ever admit that Hamas is the lawfully elected and publicly supported government of Gaza, and the West Bank as well. AP gives Zionist line: "The White House called for the cease-fire to be restored, yet there were few indications that the violence, which has left more than 200 people dead and nearly another 400 wounded, was waning. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak warned that the operation in Gaza would widen if necessary. It was "completely unacceptable" for Hamas, which controls Gaza, to launch attacks on Israel after a truce lasting several months, said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council. "These people are nothing but thugs, so Israel is going to defend its people against terrorists like Hamas that indiscriminately kill their own people," Johndroe said in Texas as President George W. Bush was spending the week before New Year's at his ranch here. "They need to stop. We have said in the past that they have a choice to make. You can't have one foot in politics and one foot in terror." President-elect Barack Obama was receiving an intelligence briefing on Saturday from various security agencies, Johndroe said. Bush has spoken to regional leaders and the administration will remain in close contact, he said. The Roots of Christian Zionism may be the first sympathetic and factual explanation of Christianity's latest epidemic of apostasy, focusing on the cure. Christian Zionists are Christians who believe THAT GOD ORDAINED THE STATE OF ISRAEL. Most Traditional and Orthodox Christians correctly deny this...they will listen.
