Memorial for Mahmoud Darwish, Saturday, August 16th, 7:30 pm

Centre for Socialist Education, 706 Clark Dr., Vancouver

Dear Friends:

It was with great sadness that Palestinians and their supporters received the news of the death of Mahmoud Darweesh on August 9, 2008.  Darweesh was considered the Palestinian national poet laureate and was one of the best known internationally of the first generation of "resistance poets" after the Nakba.
Here in Vancouver, Canada Palestine Association and friends will be hosting a memorial for Mahmoud Darweesh on Saturday, August 16th at 7:30 pm at the Centre for Socialist Education, 706 Clark Dr., Vancouver (several blocks south of Hastings).

Please join us on Aug. 16th to honour the legacy of Mahmoud Darweesh, his poignant expressions of the Palestinian national soul and his political activism.
Thank you.
