Military regime, allies leading Pakistan to anarchy and destruction By Aziz Narejo
Sindhi Association of North America, SANA, has strongly condemned the government action to disallow former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan and his arrest, mishandling, kidnapping and deportation to Saudi Arabia. In a statement issued in Houston, TX, SANA president Aziz Narejo said that the government action is in clear violation of the recent SC judgment and it is a denial of the basic and inalienable rights of the citizens to return and remain in their country. He said that if there are any cases against any one, they must be given opportunity to defend themselves in the courts of law. Such highhandedness against the citizenry and the leadership must end. He demanded that the illegal government must pack and the people should be allowed to freely elect their leaders. SANA president also condemned the mobbing of the Sindh High Court on Monday by the workers of a political party and the murder of a senior lawyer Raja Riaz. He demanded an urgent enquiry by a higher judicial panel in the two highly disturbing occurrences and said that if the alarming situation is not immediately checked, it would lead to complete break down of system and lead to anarchy in the country. Mr. Narejo held the military regime and its allies fully responsible for the fast deteriorating situation in the country. Musharraf, His Allies Leading The Country To Anarchy, Destruction: 1. PML leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrested, kidnapped and deported to Saudi Arabia in violation of the Supreme Court judgment 2. They mob Sindh High Court, threaten judges and the lawyers 3. They kill Raja Riaz, a senior lawyer and activist in Karachi In a clear violation of the Supreme Court judgment, the military regime disallowed former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to return to his country and arrested, kidnapped and deported him to Saudi Arabia. Nawaz Sharif was returning to the country to end his over 7 year's exile following a SC judgment last month in his favor. The military regime had laid siege to Islamabad and Rawalpindi and had sealed all road and rail links to the twin cities to stop people from receiving the PML-N leader. The regime had also arrested thousands of political activists and leaders including PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal who had recently attended SANA Convention and spoken forcefully for democracy in Pakistan. It is the most condemnable act of the regime and denies the basic and inalienable rights of the citizens to return and remain in their country. If there are any cases against any one, they must be given opportunity to defend themselves in the courts of law. Such highhandedness against the citizenry and the leadership must end. The illegal government must pack and people should be allowed to freely elect their leaders. 2. In a very disturbing news from Karachi, a large number of people, reportedly belonging to the terrorist outfit MQM, mobbed Sindh High Court today as it was hearing the May 12 carnage case. The unruly mob threatened and intimidated judges and the lawyers and practically forced the adjournment of the case. It is very alarming situation and may lead to complete breakdown of system if courts of law are not allowed to function freely. The present regime and its allies are fully responsible for the situation. 3. A senior lawyer Raja Riaz was killed in Karachi as he was on his way to court. He was very active during the recent lawyers' movement and had an altercation with government and MQM lawyers' on Friday last and during the last hearing of the May 12 carnage case. He had been reportedly threatened by MQM people of dire consequences. His relatives have accused MQM hand in his killing saying that the people behind May 12 carnage have murdered Raja Riaz. It is a dangerous trend and a high judicial panel should hold an immediate enquiry into the murder of Raja Riaz and also the mobbing of the Sindh High Court on Monday. If the situation is not checked urgently, it may lead to complete anarchy in the country. Aziz Narejo President, SANA Sindhi Association of North America |
