Reply to John Brison's Op-Ed Column Advocating War with Iran By Mohammed Khaku ccun.org, October 7, 2007
In
the past six years, we have invaded two countries, established bases around
the world, sent troops from Panama to the Philippines, killing over a
million civilians and displacing over two millions as refugees. The Neo-Cons
in Washington have ramped up defense spending, tortured prisoners and set up
secret prisons. And now John Brinson advocates war against Iran in his op-ed
column “Not fighting wars isn’t choice in today’s world”.
John Brinson and our leader in Washington have an uncanny ability to create
enemies from Korea to Iran to Hamas to Hezbollah and talk the language of
War rather then peace. United States is the only “Super Power”, yet it is consumed by fear, worried about terrorists and rogue nations. Writers like John Brinson are whipping up hysteria and magnifying the enemy as worst than Hitler and are the” axis-of-evil”.
Why is this intense hostility against Iran? Is it due to the overthrowing of the Shah or the control of oil? However let's look from the point of the “evil-doer” the Iranians. During the reign of the Shah in 1953, we funded the overthrow of the elected government and trained SAVAK - the secret police to kill and torture thousands of Iranians. We still continue our dream funded by Congress for regime change to install the Shah’s son and spend millions of taxpayer’s dollars to fund radio and TV satellites beaming Iran with propaganda.
We
instigated Iraq-Iran war and funded Saddam with arms, chemicals and poison
gases to kill millions. We shot down an Iranian civilian aircraft, knowing
that it was not a military aircraft. Today, we continue to whip up public
hysteria about Iran as the most dangerous nation since Nazi Germany. While Iran's
peaceful Nuclear energy pursuit has became the new horror and according to
John Brinson “unless we take aggressive action against Iran”
to neutralize this threat there will be another Holocaust. Mr. John Brinson,
Abraham Lincoln said, "...You can't fool all of the people, all of the time", yet the American people continue to vote for leaders who appear to be both morally and intellectually bankrupt and are willing to betray everything except their own self-interest?
Is it Oil or destruction of Palestine?
