Stop the war politicians By Carsten Kofoed ccun.org, November 14, 2007
Another Danish soldier has died in Afghanistan. A 34-year-old family father from the Royal Life Guards became the third Dane to be killed in just three weeks in the long lost war being waged by the NATO occupiers in Afghanistan. And one more time we are hearing Minister of Defence, Soeren Gade, madly declaring that the security of Copenhagen depends on no less than a NATO victory in Afghanistan. But terror cannot be fought with state terror and occupation, and the Taleban (movement) cannot – which has also been clearly stated by military lawyer Anders Henriksen of the Danish Institute for Military Studies – be held responsible for September 11. Therefore, the war in Afghanistan is illegal according to the UN Charter. Objectively, the Taleban is fighting for the independence of Afghanistan. In Canada, Holland, Germany, Japan, and Australia, the governments are having big trouble getting a parliamentary majority for keeping their occupation forces in Afghanistan. And the populations are vehemently opposed. The Danes must rise in protest. The war maniacs in the Parliament only respect their own lives. This article was published in the two Danish dailies Ekstra Bladet (October 17, 2007) and Politiken (October 20, 2007).
