Syrian Regime and Russians Forces Escalate Air and Ground Bombardment on Aleppo and Idlib, New Turkish Military Reinforcement to Syria

Turkey sends new military reinforcement to Syria

SOHR sources reported seeing this morning a new Turkish military column of armored vehicles and heavy military gears crossing into Syria via Kafr Lusin crossing on the border with Iskenderun, north of Idlib.

The entry of the new Turkish reinforcement coincides with taking control of the entire highway of Damascus – Aleppo by the regime force.

Yesterday, SOHR sources report that Turkish forces set up a new post inside the Syrian territory, establishing a military post in the 46th Regiment in the western countryside of Aleppo, as part of the continued deployment of the Turks in Aleppo and Idlib.

Over the past few hours and days, Turkish forces were stationed in several locations and posts, most notably Taftanaz military airport, Tala’e Al Baath camp in Al-Mustauma, Tal Qomaynas, west of Idlib city, and the 46th Regiment, west of Aleppo.

On Sunday, the Syrian Observatory reported that the Turkish military columns continued entering Idlib province including heavy weapons, tanks and military radars. Reliable source have informed the Syrian Observatory that Turkish army is preparing its Syrian proxies for launching a wide-scale military operation against regime forces, in the case that they do not retreat from areas they have advanced into nearby the Turkish posts.

SOHR sources report that intensive airstrikes continued by regime and Russian’s jets, after regime forces captured the entire Damascus-Aleppo international highway.

Warplanes targeted with dozens of airstrikes areas in Dara Ezza, Kafr Hamra, Kafr Nooran, Khan al-Asal, Kafrnaha, Jina, Uram al-Kubrah and other places in western and south-western rural Aleppo, Hass, Kafrnbel, Kafr Sejna, Ma’arzita and other areas in southern and south-eastern Idlib, as well as Jabal Al Akrad in northern rural Latakia.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces and proxy factions targeted, with rocket-propelled grenades and intensive artillery fire, areas on the frontlines of Al Nayrab, Afis, Jobas and Saraqeb, which are controlled by regime forces in eastern rural Idlib.

Regime forces have also tried to advance near the town of Kafr Sajna, south of Idlib, while airstrikes were accompanied by intensive ground bombardment, targeting places in those areas. At a time when waves of displacement continue from western and southwestern rural Aleppo, such as Al-Atareb, Al-Abzmo, Urem al-Kubrah, Urem al-Sughra, Kaframa, al-Mansoura, near Kafrnaha, near Kafr Nooran and other areas there, due to the escalation of intensive air and ground bombardment by Syrian regime and Russians.

Syrian Observatory activists reported that the regime forces carried out intensive rocket shelling targeting Qumaynas, Sarmin and Maarzita in Idlib countryside. The shelling coincided with Russian aieral bombardment on Kafr Sajnah in the south of Idlib, the vicinity of Atareb, Kafr Nouran, the vicinity of Urm and other areas, west of Aleppo.

On the other hand, fierce clashes and intensive shelling are underway in the north-eastern countryside of Idlib, between opposition factions and jihadi groups on one hand, and regime soldiers and loyalists on the other.

Syrian regime controls strategic M5 completely for the first time since 2012

Reliable sources have confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the regime forces and loyalists have imposed their control over the entire Damascus – Aleppo international highway aka M5, for the first time since 2012, after capturing the area of Al-Rashideen 4th sector.

On the 24th of January 2020, the regime forces launched a military operation with Russian full support and supervision for the purpose of taking control of the strategic highway, during which regime forces captured nearly 160 areas in Idlib and Aleppo.

Over the recent hours and days, regime forces captured more than 57 areas in both southern and western countryside of Aleppo: Khan Tuman, warehouses of Khan Tuman, Al-Khalidyah, Rajam, Hazmer Hills, Kherbet Kharas, Tal Al-Zaytun, Maarata, Al-Rashideen fifth sector, Zammar, Jazraya, Othmaniyah Kaberah, Talafeh, Tal Tabarez, Maharem, Khawwari, Al-Qal’ajiyah, Khalseh, Zitan, Berneh, Al-Huwayr, Abad, I’jaz, Sheikh Ahmed, Tal Karatin, Al-Zahiryah Farm, Al-Aaseriyah, Mak-hala, Rasm Al-Ward, Um Atabah, Rasm Al-Eis, Rasm Saharij, Jib Al-Kas, Bans, Al-Eis, Al-Eis Hill, Al-Kusaybiyah, Al-Bawabiyah, Al-Talhiyah, Tal Haddiyah, IKARDA, Al-Salihyah, Al-Barqum, Al-Zarbah, Al-Kammari, Al-Kalariyah, Kafr Halab, Al-Qanater, Kherbet Jazraya, Miznaz, Al-Rashideen 4th sector and other positions and hills in the area.

Meanwhile, regime forces captured 101 villages and towns in Idlib: Telmans, Ma’ar Shmasha, Deir Sharqi, Deir Al-Gharbi, Ma’ar Shmarin, Ma’rata, Al-Ghadfa, Ma’ar Shourin Al-Za’alana, Al-Dana, Tal Sheikh, Sawami’e, Khirbet Mezyan, Masaran, Bsida, Taqana, Babolin, Kafr Bassin, Marhatat, Hamidia, Dar Al-Salaam, Salhia, Kafruma, Maarrat Al-Nu’man city, Wadi Al-Daif, Hantutin, Al-Jarrada, Al-Ruwayha and Al-Qahiryah, Khan al-Sobol town, Mardebseh, Al-Hartamiyah, Qamhana, Abu Juraif, Tal Khatrah, Tal Musaytif, Al-Kana’es, Karsyan, Hish, Kafr Mazdah, Jabbalah, Muqah, Al-Amudiyah, Armanya, Kafr Batikh, Dadikh, Luf, Anqarati, Jubas, Sannan, Zakkar, Tarnabeh and Al-Nayrab, Mardikh, Tal Mardikh, Kaddur, Al-Ruwayha, the Abandoned Battalion, Al-Balisah, Al-Wasitah, Kuwayris, Tal Al-Agher, Al-Mushayrafah, Tawil Al-Halib, Al-Raqim, Jadidat Al-Khatrah, Sheikh Idrees, Baj’as, Al-Rayyan, Tal Al-Rumman, Parisa, al-Hammamat, Tal al-Sultan, Om Sharshuh, al-Khashakhish, Tal Ibrahim, Jabal al-Taweel, Mas’adah, Ras Al-Ain, Shuha, Kafr Amim and Tal Rihan, Al-Rasafah, Islamin, Abu Al-Khashah, Tal Al-Tuqan, Jlas, Sheikh Mansur, Al-Duwayrah, Saraqeb, Afes and other eight villages, hills and positions in the eastern and south-eastern countryside of Idlib).
