Two Iraqis were killed, 14 were injured in a car bomb in the Sunni Muslim Arab city of Tikrit, on November 18, 2018, according to yaqein news. نحو 20 قتيلا وجريحا بتفجير مفخخة وسط تكريت 18 نوفمبر 2018 ، يقين قتل واصيب نحو 20 شخصا ، بتفجير سيارة مفخخة كانت مركونة على جانب الطريق في احدى المناطق الواقعة وسط مدينة تكريت بمحافظة صلاح الدين ، مساء اليوم الاحد ، مااسفرت ايضا عن الحاق اضرار مادية كبيرة في المكان . افاد مصدر في الشرطة بتصريح صحفي ، ان “سيارة مفخخة انفجرت في شارع الاطباء وسط مدينة تكريت بمحافظة صلاح الدين ، ما اسفرت عن مقتل شخصين واصابة 14 اخرين بجروح مختلفة”. واوضح ان ” الانفجار تسبب بوقوع خسائر مادية كبيرة ، حيث انتشرت قوات الشرطة ومنعت الاقتراب والتصوير تخوفا من وقوع تفجير ثان “. وبين أنه “تم نقل الجرحى الى مستشفيات مركز المحافظة، فيما فتحت القوات الامنية تحقيقا  لمعرفة الجناة لكنها لم تعلن عن شيء بعد “. https://yaqein.net/politics/154858

Iraqi security kill 10 IS militants in Salahuddin province

Iraqi security forces killed ten Islamic State militants and destroyed their hideouts in Salahuddin province, security media reported on Sunday.

The spokesperson of the Security Media Center, Yahya Rasoul, said in a statement that army aviation from the Salahuddin Operations forces killed ten Islamic State militants, destroyed two havens and three underground tunnels near Kanous village, in the city of Shirqat. He added that four motorbikes belonging to the militants were also destroyed in relevant operations at Diyala province.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State extremists late 2017, ending a three-year war to reclaim territories occupied by the group, but forces continue to hunt for extremists vestiges in desert areas and struggle against occasional attacks launched by the group.

Bomb blast kills, wounds three Iraqis in Mosul

Three Iraqi people, including a policeman, were killed and wounded Thursday in a bomb blast in Mosul, the Islamic State’s previously proclaimed capital.

Speaking to privately-owned website Basnews, Captain Amir Watheq from Nineveh police said that an explosive charge went off while a police vehicle was on its way to Badush village, northwest of Mosul, leaving two civilians dead and a policeman wounded.

“The security forces sealed off the blast site and carried the bodies to the forensic medicine department, while the wounded policeman was moved to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Watheq added.

Violence in the country has surged further with the emergence of Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed an “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

The surge in violence between armed groups and government forces has resulted in over five million internally displaced persons across Iraq and left more than 11 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Violence left 174 Iraqis dead and wounded throughout the month of October, according to a monthly toll released by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

Iraqi forces kill over 20 Islamic State militants in Nineveh

Over 20 Islamic State militants were killed on Wednesday during a military operation in Badush heights in Nineveh province, a security source said as Iraqi forces still launch nationwide manhunts for the IS extremists.

Speaking to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), the source pointed out that security forces, backed by the Air Force, carried out numerous landing operations in Badush heights and Hatra districts in Nineveh after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of several IS terrorists there.

“More than 20 IS terrorists were killed in the military operation,” the source said, warning that dormant cells of the extremist group are still active in some parts of Nineveh.

Earlier in the day, the Iraqi Security Media Center announced that 14 Islamic State militants were arrested during a wide-scale security operation in Nineveh.

According to the center, the arrestees were involved in the fights against security forces during the military operations to liberate Nineveh from IS militants.

In August 2017, former Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi announced that Nineveh province was “fully liberated” from Islamic State, after the district of Tal Afar was re-captured.

The Iraqi government launched an operation to retake Tal Afar on August 20, 2017 involving some 50,000 personnel from the army, air force, federal police, special forces and the Shia Muslim-led paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces.

9 Iraqis, including tribal fighter, killed in Islamic State attack in Anbar

Nine Iraqis were killed Monday in an attack by the terrorist Islamic State group in the Iraqi province of Anbar, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to the privately-owned Baghdad Today website, the source said that Islamic State militants targeted a house of a fighter of the Tribal Mobilization Forces in al-Dabtiya area, west of Karama district in Anbar province.

“The attack left the tribal fighter and eight passers-by dead,” the statement added.

Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence last November with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.

The Islamic State group appeared on the international scene in 2014 when it seized large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria, declaring the establishment of an Islamic “caliphate” from Mosul city.

Later on, the group has become notorious for its brutality, including mass killings, abductions and beheadings, prompting the U.S. to lead an international coalition to destroy it.

Last December, former Iraqi prime minister Haidar al-Abadi announced full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring the end of a three-year war against IS members.

Abadi declared Dec. 10 an annual national holiday on this occasion.

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and its partners continue to pursue the lasting defeat of ISIS in designated parts of Iraq and Syria.
 
Operation Roundup, which began May 1 for the defeat of ISIS in the Middle Euphrates River Valley and Iraqi- Syrian border region, has continued through offensive operations coupled with precision Coalition strike support.
 
Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve and its partner forces' operations are exerting pressure on ISIS senior leaders and associates, as well as degrading, disrupting and dismantling ISIS organizational structures throughout Iraq and Syria.
 
Operation Roundup will continue to target ISIS remnants as the coalition remains committed to the lasting defeat of ISIS to increase peace and stability in the region, and to protect all our homelands from ISIS's terrorist threat.
 
Weekly Strike Summary
 
Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10, CJTF-OIR coalition military forces conducted 150 strikes consisting of 331 engagements in Syria.
 
On Nov. 10 in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 23 strikes consisting of 36 engagements against ISIS targets.
•             Near Hajin, 23 strikes destroyed two command and control centers, one IED facility, one logistic facility, five buildings, four tunnels, two staging areas, six supply routes, one fighting position and one UAS launch site.
 
There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq on Nov 10, 2018.

On Nov. 9 in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted one strike consisting of one engagement against ISIS targets.
•             Near Lake Qadisiyyah, one strike damaged one weapons cache.
 
On Nov. 8 in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes consisting of 49 engagements against ISIS targets.
•             Near Hajin, 19 strikes engaged three tactical units, destroyed two command and control centers, two buildings, one observation point, four supply routes, one fighting position, five weapons caches, three tunnels and one staging area. 
 
  On Nov. 8 in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted two strikes consisting of two engagements against ISIS
  targets.
•             Near Jazeerah desert, two strikes destroyed one building and one cave.
 
On Nov. 7 in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 25 strikes consisting of 48 engagements against ISIS targets.
•             Near Hajin, 25 strikes engaged four tactical units, and destroyed two weapons caches, four tunnels, four staging areas, four command and control centers, three fighting positions, one vehicle borne IED, one building, eight mortars, one IED facility and three supply routes.

There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq on Nov. 6, 2018.
 
On Nov. 5 in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes consisting of 32 engagements against ISIS targets.
•             Near Hajin, 17 strikes engaged one tactical unit, and destroyed one supply route, one weapons cache, one tunnel, three buildings, two command and control centers, four fighting positions, eight staging areas, eight mortars and one observation point.
 
There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq on Nov. 5, 2018.
 
On Nov. 4, 2018 in Syria, coalition military forces conducted 30 military strikes consisting of 71 engagements against ISIS targets.
 
•             Near Hajin, 30 strikes engaged 49 tactical units, and destroyed seven supply routes, 19 mortars, 13 fighting positions, one bed down location and seven staging areas.
 
  There were no reported strikes conducted in Iraq on Nov. 4, 2018.
 
  On Nov. 2 and Oct. 30, Coalition military forces conducted three strikes consisting of five engagements in Iraq
  that were not reported in the previous releases:
•             On Nov. 2, near Khanukah mountains, two military strikes consisting of three engagements destroyed two caves and one bed down location.
 
•             On Oct. 30, near Khanukah mountains, one military strike consisting of two engagements destroyed two buildings.
