Confirmed information about withdrawal of ISIS from the largest oilfield in Syria after mining it

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces and their allied militiamen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities under Russian command continue targeting Al-Omar oilfield, which is the largest oilfield in Syria which is located east of the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and the continued shelling comes in conjunction with the information received by the SOHR about the withdrawal of ISIS from the oilfield after heavily planting it, in an attempt by ISIS to delay the control of the regime forces on the oilfield, which the regime forces managed, on Thursday the 19th of October 2017, to reach its outskirts after controlling Ziban town, after they crossed western banks of the Euphrates River through water bridges to the eastern banks.

The SOHR published on Friday the 20th of October 2017 that violent clashes of Deir Ezzor ended their 40th days, by transferring the battle again from the western banks of the Euphrates River, to the eastern banks, but this time from Al-Mayadin area, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored this transference, which carried out by establishing water bridges enabled the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them as well as the Russian forces to cross the Euphrates River, as a part of their efforts to impose their control on Al-Omar oil field which is the biggest oil field in Syria, after they reached the outskirts of the field, and the regime forces started their first steps, by taking the control of Ziban town, which is at a distance of few kilometers away from the field, while they continued last night, their artillery, aerial and rocket shelling on positions of the “Islamic State” organization and its controlled areas in Al-Omar oil field area, amid the continuation of escalating the military operations, as well as the continuation of the violent fighting, between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against the members of the “Islamic State” organization, in order to take the control of the field.

This fighting was accompanied by widening the scope of the aerial targeting by the regime forces and the Russian forces, to the controlled areas of ISIS, which targeted the remaining cities, towns, and villages, as well as the water crossing which the displaced people use to survive heading to the desert in Deir Ezzor province, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored last night that the warplanes carried out a new massacre by targeting the river crossing between Al-Bokamal city and Al-Baghur village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of 16 persons including 7 children and 4 citizen women, and the number of casualties may increase because of the presence of a large number of injuries, some of them have seriously wounded, thus, the number of the civilian casualties who were killed by the intensive bombing by the warplanes as well as the continuous rocket shelling on Deir Ezzor province has increased, in which the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented has documented since the 10th of September 2017, the date of lifting the siege by the regime forces on the controlled areas of them in Deir Ezzor city, until today the 20th of October 2017, the death of 665 citizens including 162 children below the age of eighteen, and 132 citizen women over the age of eighteen, they were killed as a result of the bombing by the Russian warplanes as well as the International Coalition warplanes, and the by the regime forces in the cities, the towns and the villages of Deir Ezzor.

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented that the number of the villages, the towns and the cities which the regime forces managed to recover, has increased to 53 villages, towns and cities, the biggest is Al-Mayadin city, in the eastern and the north- western countryside of Deir Ezzor, its western desert, and the eastern banks of the Euphrates River opposite Deir Ezzor city, and the regime forces managed to end the presence of ISIS from the administrative border of Al-Raqqah, to Al-Mayadin desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and the north-western countryside of Deir Ezzor with the parts extended from Deir Ezzor city to Al-Mayadin area in the eastern countryside, as well as the area extended from the banks opposite Deir Ezzor Military Airbase to the banks opposite the city, became free of ISIS, and the most important of these areas are Al-Mayadin, Beqres, Muhasan, Al-Bomar, Al-Boleel, Al-Shawla, Kabajib, Marrat, Mazlum, Hatla, Al-Kharita, Al-Tabani, Ma’dan, Attiq, Al-Tareeq, Al-Shmaytiyyah, Ayyash, Al-Mery’iyyah and Al-Jafrah. This wide advancement by the regime forces also enabled them to besiege the organization inside a number of areas that are still controlled by it in Deir Ezzor city, while it helped in widen the scope of the regime’s control over the banks of the Euphrates River greatly, in which the area controlled by the regime forces on the banks of the Euphrates River has increased from 2 km before the arrival of the regime forces to Deir Ezzor city, and lifting the siege which was carried out on 3 stages the first was to lift the siege on the Brigade 137, then lifting the siege of Deir Ezzor Military Airport and the bloc of neighborhoods related to it, and the third stage was to reach the western entrance of Deir Ezzor city at the area of Panorama area after taking the control of Damascus – Deir Ezzor road, to about 150 km inside Deir Ezzor province.
