UN Calls on Opening Rafah Crossing [ 07/09/2013 - 10:21 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- The United Nations (UN) has called in a statement issued on Saturday for opening all crossings before people and goods' movement to and from the Gaza Strip. U.N. Secretary-General's deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq stated that the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) expressed deep concern over the recent restrictions and security measures imposed on Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the besieged Gaza Strip. Due to the recent restrictions, thousands of Palestinians including patients and students have been stranded on both sides of the border, the statement said, pointing to shortages in fuel, medicines, and building materials.
