TEHRAN (FNA)-

An Iranian university professor and deputy director at Natanz enrichment facility was killed in a terrorist bomb blast in a Northern Tehran neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

The magnetic bomb which was planted by an unknown motorcyclist under the car of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan Behdast, a professor at Tehran's technical university, also wounded two other Iranian nationals in Seyed Khandan neighborhood in Northern Tehran.

Ahmadi Roshan, 32, was a graduate of oil industry university and a deputy director of Natanz uranium enrichment facility for commercial affairs.

No more details have been revealed about the blast.

The blast took place on the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, who was also assassinated in a terrorist bomb attack in Tehran in January 2010.

The today bombing method was similar to the 2010 terrorist bomb attacks against the then university professor, Fereidoun Abbassi Davani - who is now the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization - and his colleague Majid Shahriari.

Official Blames Zionist Regime for Assassination of Natanz Official

TEHRAN (FNA)-

A senior Iranian official took the Zionist regime responsible for directing and sponsoring terrorist attacks on Iranian scientists, including the assassination of the country's young scientist, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan Behdast, this morning.

"The bomb was a magnetic bomb similar to the bombs that were earlier used for the assassination of (the Iranian) scientists and actually the job was done by the Zionists," Secretary of Tehran province's Security Council Safar Ali Baratlou told FNA on Wednesday.

"Zionists seem to be trying to create a security atmosphere in Iran on the threshold of (parliamentary) elections to decrease the people' turnout in the polls," he added.

Abbassi Davani survived the attack, while Shahriari was martyred.

An Iranian court of revolution in August sentenced to death the terrorist who assassinated Ali Mohammadi in 2010.

Majid Jamali Fashi pleaded guilty to murdering Massoud Ali Mohammadi.

Tehran's Public and Revolution Courts Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi announced at the time that Jamali Fashi had been trained in Mossad's military bases.

Jafari Dolatabadi also stated that Jamali Fashi had received $120,000 from the Zionist regime to carry out the assassination and then returned to Iran.

Majid Jamali Fashi said in his confessions aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on January 11, 2011, "I became acquainted with a number of Israeli officers on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway after we had a visit to Israel and I received different training courses, including chasing, running, counter-chasing and techniques for planting bombs in a car."

The terrorist added that he had also been trained in that Israeli garrison how to carry out bomb attacks while riding a motorcycle.

Jamali Fashi also said that he had received psychological and operational briefings for assassinating Dr. Ali Mohammadi and had exercised the bombing plot for killing the Iranian scientist several times at the Israeli garrison.

He also mentioned during his confessions that small models of Dr. Mohammadi's house and his house surroundings were used during his training course.

VP Condemns Assassination of Iranian Scientist, Blames Zionists

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi condemned the terrorist blast which killed an Iranian scientist in Tehran on Wednesday, and took the arrogant powers and the Zionist regime responsible for the attack.

"The terrorist action was carried out by the hirelings of the Zionist regime and those who claim to be fighting terrorism," Rahimi said, addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

He described the blast as a clear instance of state terrorism, and underlined that Iran will soon arrest the culprits behind the terrorist attack and will expose them to the world.

Rahimi also downplayed the effects of such terrorist attacks on the country's progress, and said Iranian scientists and officials will continue their efforts to achieve more success and advancement in different arenas.

REUTERS - An Iranian nuclear scientist was killed by a bomb placed on his car by a motorcyclist in Tehran on Wednesday, and a city official blamed Israel for the attack, similar to attacks on nuclear scientists just over a year ago.

Fars news agency identified the victim as Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, a 32-year-old graduate of an oil industry university. It said he had supervised a department at Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility. Iran’s atomic energy organisation said it would issue a statement shortly.

“The bomb was a magnetic one and the same as the ones previously used for the assassination of the scientists, and the work of the Zionists (Israelis),” Fars quoted Deputy Tehran Governor Safarali Baratloo as saying.

Witnesses told Reuters they had seen two people on the motorbike fix the bomb to the car. As well as the person killed in the car, a pedestrian was also killed. Another person in the car was gravely injured, they said.

Two daylight bomb attacks on the same day in Tehran in November 2010 killed one nuclear scientist and wounded another.

Iran then blamed Israeli, British and U.S. intelligence for the attacks, which it said were aimed at assassinating key people working on Iran’s nuclear programme.

Iran denies Western suspicions that its nuclear programme has military goals, saying it is for purely peaceful purposes.

There was no immediate word from Israeli officials. Israel has always declined comment on previous such bombings in Iran.

On Tuesday, Israel’s military chief of staff, Lieutenant-General Benny Gantz, was quoted as saying that Iran should expect more “unnatural” events in 2012.

His comments, to a closed-door parliamentary panel in Jerusalem, were widely interpreted as alluding to previous acts of sabotage.

“For Iran, 2012 is a critical year in combining the continuation of its nuclearization, internal changes in the Iranian leadership, continuing and growing pressure from the international community and things which take place in an unnatural manner," Gantz was quoted as saying.
