scheduled on Saturday, causing tension as hundreds of Palestinians
waited to cross. Egyptian Authorities Close Rafah Terminal Without Reasons Given [ 04/06/2011 - 10:26 AM ] RAFAH, (PIC)-- The Egyptian authorities closed the Rafah border terminal with Gaza Strip on Saturday without giving any reason for the step, Ayoub Abu Sha'ar, the director of the Rafah terminal police, said. He said in a press statement published by the Palestinian Interior Ministry’s website that the Egyptian authorities refused to allow entry of busses carrying passengers into the Egyptian side of the terminal. Abu Sha'ar said that the step came as a surprise and that the Egyptians would not answer inquires by the Palestinian side regarding the act. Hundreds of Palestinian passengers have gathered in front of the Rafah crossing waiting for any new development allowing them access, most of the Palestinians expressed frustration at the Egyptian government's step. Abu Sha'ar said that the crossing worked very well in the first three days after its opening but work returned to slow motion over the past three days until its complete stop today without any prior notice.
