RAMALLAH, (PIC)--

Jerusalemite MP Ahmed Attoun has described the Israeli decision to exile him from his native city of Jerusalem as “oppressive”, asserting that he would go back one day.

He told the PIC on Wednesday that the Jerusalemites are the native inhabitants of Jerusalem and the Israeli occupiers are the aliens who should be expelled from the holy city.

The Israeli establishment is trying to give a legal cover for a political issue, the MP said, adding that referring the eviction decision to courts was meant to legalize its systematic expulsion of Jerusalemites.

Attoun, who was deported to Ramallah in the West Bank, told Quds Press on arrival there on Tuesday that the Israeli authorities had tried ever since his abduction from the Red Cross premises two and half months ago to convince him to voluntarily leave the city at the pretext of his “illegal presence” in it but he refused.

He charged that the decision to evict him from the holy city was part of the Israeli attempt to Judaize it and to expel the biggest possible number of its indigenous inhabitants.

Meanwhile, the Gaza ministry of foreign affairs and planning denounced the Israeli step, describing it as a violation of the international law.

The Red Cross, for its part, urged Israel to revoke its decision, adding that Attoun was deported to Ramallah against his will.

It said in a statement on Tuesday night that eastern Jerusalem is under occupation and Palestinians living in it should not be compulsorily removed to other areas.

Hamas, PFLP denounce banishment of Jerusalemite MP

DAMASCUS, (PIC)--

Hamas movement condemned the Israeli occupation authority’s exile of Jerusalemite MP Ahmed Attoun as a fresh crime against the native inhabitants of the holy city.

A responsible source in Hamas said in a statement on Tuesday that the IOA targets the eviction of Jerusalemites from their homes and city.

He said that such “desperate attempts” to weaken the morale of the Jerusalemites and their lawmakers would not succeed, but would rather boost their steadfastness and insistence on their legitimate rights.

For its part, the popular front for the liberation of Palestine described the step as part of the IOA racial cleansing policy in the holy city.

It called on the Palestinian Authority to ask for the intervention of the Arab League and the Islamic cooperation organization to stand up to those crimes and violation of the Geneva Convention.

MP Tuteh: The Israeli intelligence told us to evacuate our tent in Red Cross

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

Palestinian lawmaker Mohamed Tuteh, one of the Jerusalemite officials facing exile, said the Israeli intelligence threatened them over the phone on Wednesday to evacuate their protest tent at the Red Cross headquarters in occupied Jerusalem within 48 hours.

Tuteh told Quds Press that he received a phone call from an Israeli intelligence officer named Shadi telling him that he should leave along with former minister Khaled Abu Arafa the Red Cross headquarters, but he hung up on him when he started to threaten.

"We refuse to talk with the Israeli intelligence as well as we do not accept threats," the lawmaker noted.

He stressed that the Israeli occupation's threats, bullying and arrogance could not intimidate them and they would keep resisting the occupation by all means in their tent.

The official appealed to Jordan and Egypt to urgently intervene to stop the Israeli occupation state from expelling Palestinian lawmakers and officials from their holy city.

The official also called on the Red Cross to assume its responsibilities well, especially since it showed no serious reaction when the Israeli occupation forces kidnapped last time lawmaker Ahmed Attoun from its headquarters.

For his part, first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council Ahmed Bahr deplored the Israel threat to evacuate the Palestinian lawmakers from the Red Cross headquarters by force.

In a press release on Wednesday, Bahr said this threat reflects Israeli intentions to escalate its moves against Palestinian lawmakers in Jerusalem and the resistance in the days and weeks to come.

He urged the UN, the Arab League, the organization of Islamic cooperation, the world's parliaments and human rights groups to curb Israel's ongoing violations against Palestinian lawmakers.
