4 Pakistanis Killed in US Drone Missile Attack, 3 NATO containers set ablaze in Kalat

September 25, 2010

US drone attack kills 4 in Pakistan

Press TV, Saturday, September 25, 2010 2:49PM

Another US drone attack in northwest Pakistan has left at least four people dead amid growing discontent over the rising number of civilian deaths in the violence-wracked country.

The missile strike hit Datta Khel village near Miranshah in North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday.

Pakistani officials confirmed the attack on the country's tribal areas.

US drone attacks have killed at least 100 people in Pakistan in September.

The attacks, initiated by former US President George W. Bush and continuing under President Barack Obama, have drastically increased in recent weeks amid the flood tragedy that has affected the South Asian country.

Washington claims the airstrikes target militants. However, according to statistics, over 1,100 people have lost their lives in more than 130 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008.

The rising civilian death toll has fueled anti-American sentiments in Pakistan with Islamabad condemning the strikes, arguing that they violate the country's sovereignty.
