Palestinian Rights Conference Starts in Beirut Today [ 23/09/2010 - 12:22 PM ] BEIRUT, (PIC)-- The conference of the Palestinian people's inalienable rights kicked off its two-day meetings Thursday morning in Beirut in the presence of more than 200 noted Arab figures from 10 countries. Representative of the Palestinian rights committee Issam Noman in his speech in the opening session warned that the Palestinian cause is coming through a critical stage while the international support for the Israeli entity is increasing. Noman stressed that the Palestinian cause became vulnerable to fragile settlement projects including that the principle of the liberation of Palestine as one of the national constants was replaced with the two-state solution. For his part, former Jordanian premier Ahmed Abeidat stressed the importance of upholding the Palestinian rights and constants, especially the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes. "We all agree on completely rejecting the idea of the surrogate country; we also oppose the settlement approach which the Palestinian authority and the Arab regimes are clinging to and see it as essential wasting the rights of the Palestinian people and the Arab nation," Abeidat underscored. "Our national, religious and humanitarian duty entails the need to stand by the Palestinian people in their sacred struggle to liberate their land and exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the soil of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital," he added.
