25 Iraqis Killed, Scores Injured in Seven Attacks September 20, 2010 See photos below Falluja blast’s initial casualties 4 deaths, 11 wounded September 19, 2010 - 07:17:34 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: The initial count of casualties from central Falluja’s earlier car bomb blast reached four deaths and 11 wounded, according to a medic at al-Falluja Public Hospital. “Four persons, including a military man, were killed and 11 civilians others wounded in an initial count of casualties from the car bomb attack in central Falluja,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq on customary condition of anonymity. “Three of the wounded were admitted into the large operation theater at the hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries,” he added. Aswat al-Iraq correspondent, quoting a security source who did not want his name mentioned, said that security forces tightened measures around the hospital lest armed groups should target medics. Earlier, eyewitnesses told Aswat al-Iraq that a car bomb attack waged by a suicide bomber near a military patrol in central al-Falluja left an unidentified number of people killed or wounded and eight vehicles ablaze. “A car bomb blast targeted a military patrol near Dayf al-Rahman bridge in central Falluja, leaving a number killed or wounded,” the eyewitnesses said. A military source said that the blast left one military vehicle and seven civilian vehicles ablaze. Security forces cordoned off the area between Falluja’s eastern entrance and al-Nofous intersection in the central part of the city. Falluja, the largest city in the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (S) 1 killed while planting IED in Falluja, 5 wounded September 19, 2010 - 06:48:40 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: A gunman was killed while attempting to emplace an improvised explosive device (IED) in central al-Falluja city, wounding five civilians on Sunday, according to a local police source. “The gunman was trying to plant an IED on al-Hammam street, central Falluja, when the charge went off, killing him instantly,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The explosion left five civilians who happened to near the site wounded and also caused damage to several nearby construction material stores,” he added. “Apparently, the gunman was targeting security forces whose patrol use that street,” he said, not giving further details. AmR (P) Casualty toll in West Baghdad attacks reaches 7 killed, 22 injured September 19, 2010 - 01:37:04 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A Baghdad security source has put the casualty toll from the West-Baghdad explosion early on Sunday at 7 people killed and 22 others injured. “The new result of a car bomb explosion that took place in al-Liqa’a Square in west Baghdad’s al-Mansour district had reached 7 dead and 22 injured,” the security source told Aswat al-Iraq News Agency. The same source had announced early in the day that one civilian had been killed and five others injured in a car bomb blast in western Baghdad. The security source reported earlier that a car bomb blew up in Aden Square in Kazimiya district, killing 9 people and wounding 36 others, whilst a series of other explosions took place in different areas of Baghdad, including central Baghdad’s Bab Al-Muadam. Another security source told Aswat al-Iraq that an explosive charge, stuck to a civilian car, exploded on the main highway in west Baghdad’s Ghazaliya district on Saturday, killing its two passengers and severely damaging their vehicle. The same source also said that an explosive charge went off in central Baghdad’s al Nahda Garage, wounding three civilians and damaging a nearby shop, whilst an explosive charge blew off under a car belonging to an intelligence officer in central Baghdad’s Salhiya district, causing no human casualties. SKH (S)/SR Kadhemiya blast leaves 9 killed, 36 wounded September 19, 2010 - 12:37:10 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Sunday’s earlier car bomb blast in the northern Baghdad area of al-Kadhemiya left nine people killed and 36 others wounded, a security source said. “The casualties of the car bomb attack rose to nine deaths and 36 wounded in an initial count,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Earlier, the same source had said that two car bombing blasts took place in Adan square, al-Kadhemiya, northern Baghdad, but there was no word on possible casualties or losses. A security source had told Aswat al-Iraq that the chieftain of al-Bu Ulwan clan was killed in a blast from an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to his vehicle. An IED went off on Sunday morning inside a souk (outdoor market) near al-Nahda garage in central Baghdad, leaving three civilians wounded and causing severe damage to nearby stores. An IED attached to the vehicle of an intelligence officer went off in al-Salhiya complex garage in central Baghdad but left no casualties. AmR (P)/SR Chieftain killed in blast in Baghdad September 19, 2010 - 11:18:03 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The chieftain of al-Bu Ulwan clan was killed in an a blast from an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to his vehicle in western Baghdad on Sunday, local security source said. “Saleh Ali Hamad al-Ulwani, the tribal chief of al-Bu Ulwan clan, was killed in an explosion as an IED attached to his vehicle went off in al-Hamdaniya area, Abu Ghraib district, western Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “An escort with Sheikh Saleh was severely wounded,” he added. AmR (P)/SR Two persons killed, three others injured in Baghdad explosions on Saturday September 19, 2010 - 10:55:31 BAGHDAD / Aswat Al-Iraq: Two civilians have been killed and three others wounded in two explosions in west and central Baghdad on Saturday, according to a security source. “An explosive charge, planted in a civilian car on the main highway passing through west Baghdad’s Ghazaliya district, blew up and killed two civilians on board the car, causing severe damage to the vehicle,” the security source told Aswat al-Iraq News Agency. He said that another explosive charge blew up in central Baghdad’s al-Nahda Garage, wounding three civilians and causing damage to a nearby shop. The two explosions took place hours after an explosive charge, planted under a car belonging to the Iraqi intelligence body, destroying his car but causing no human casualties. SKH(P)/SR
