Iran, Venezuela urge for new world order

TEHRAN, Oct. 21, 2010 (Xinhua) --

Iran and Venezuela urged for new global order whereby changes could be brought about to the world, the official IRNA news agency reported Thursday.

During a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez on Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that both Iran and Venezuela are "determined for overthrowing the unjust ruling system of the world and for the establishment of a new world order based on the rules of justice", the report said.

"The two countries' relations have always been important and brotherly, but now after our last rounds of talks in Tehran and the reached agreements they have been improved to a strategic level," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

Ahmadinejad said that Tehran and Caracas share proximity of stands on international issues.

Chavez, for his part, said that eleven years ago with the victory of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela, Iran and Venezuela began a campaign which was aimed at establishing a new world order, according to IRNA.

The agreements reached are of great importance for the two nations, Chavez said, "through such cooperation we are expanding the dimensions of our unified will towards the establishment of a new world order based on justice and equality of all nations."

On Wednesday, Iran and Venezuela signed eleven memorandums of understanding (MoU) in diverse areas of oil, natural gas, textiles, trade and public housing projects.

Chavez reiterated his country's support for Tehran in face of West's imposed sanction pressures and military threats against Iran over its controversial nuclear program.

Heading a delegation of economists and politicians, Venezuelan President arrived in Tehran late Monday night for talks on diverse areas, especially of energy cooperation, with Iran.

Iran, Venezuela sign 11 MoUs

 Iran and Venezuela signed 11 memorandums of understanding (MoU) during Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's visit to Tehran, the local satellite Press TV reported Thursday.

The agreements, signed by the ministers of the two countries on Wednesday, promoted cooperation including oil, natural gas, textiles, trade and public housing projects, the report said.

During Chavez's visit, Iran hosted energy talks with Venezuela as part of the two sides' efforts to boost bilateral cooperation in oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Both countries agreed to form a joint oil shipping company and set up petrochemical plants, according to the report.

Venezuela's state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA will also participate in the exploitation of Iran's South Pars gas field, said Press TV.

Heading a delegation of economists and politicians, Chavez arrived in Tehran late Monday for talks on promoting economic ties, especially of energy cooperation with Iran.

Iran, Venezuela vow to boost all-out cooperation

Iran and Venezuela said on Tuesday that both countries are enjoying high level of cooperation and vowed to boost the bilateral ties in all areas.

Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Akbar Mehrabian said Tuesday that the current trade volume between Iran and Venezuela is about 3.5 billion U.S. dollars, however both sides are determined to promote it to even higher levels.

Grounds for expansion of economic cooperation in oil, gas, petrochemical, agriculture, transportation, banking and housing are well-prepared between the two countries, the official IRNA news agency quoted Mehrabian as saying.

Mehrabian made the remarks on the sidelines of Iran-Venezuela Joint Economic Commission kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday.

He further added that Iran and Venezuela so far have signed dozens of memorandum of understanding (MOU) on economic and political cooperation, according to the report.

Iran has launched some 80 Iranian-led industrial and development projects in Venezuela, indicating the booming economic cooperation between the two countries, the minister said.

Meanwhile, the visiting Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez said here Tuesday that Caracas is seriously seeking the expansion of ties with Tehran, the local satellite Press TV reported.

"Both countries enjoy numerous potentials and opportunities for further enhancement of relations in all areas," said Chavez who arrived in Tehran late Monday night for talks on economic and energy cooperation with Iran.

Tehran-Caracas relations are "brotherly" and " strong," Chavez said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The ample untapped potentials in bilateral cooperation should be explored and implemented, Venezuelan president said.

His country will stand by Iran under any circumstances and Venezuela regards expansion of cooperation with Iran as the top priority, according to the report.

Thanking Chavez for his stance on denouncing anti-Iran sanctions by the Western countries, Ahmadinejad said, for his part, that Iran is in a good condition and the its influence is growing in the region.

Criticizing the Western policies, Ahmadinejad said that the global imperialism and the hegemonic powers have mobilized their facilities against independent nations, according to IRNA.

The independent nations by developing solidarity and strength can change the current global situation to their own advantages, he was quoted as saying.

The two presidents underlined that both sides should utilize the existing potentials to further upgrade bilateral ties on all fronts, said Press TV.

They also discussed the latest regional and international developments, according to the report.

During his visit, Chavez will attend the Iran-Venezuela Joint Economic Commission meeting in Tehran which focuses on energy talks as part of the two sides' efforts to boost bilateral cooperation in oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

The meeting will mainly discuss the establishment of a joint oil shipping company which was agreed by the two countries last year, construction of petrochemical units and Venezuela's participation in Iran's South Pars gas field, according to the local satellite Press TV.
