NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two policemen were killed Monday by unknown gunmen in south of Mosul, according to a security source.

“Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police checkpoint near al-Salahiya village, Hamam al-Alil district, south of Mosul, killing two policemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, pointing out that they fled to unknown place.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

10 dead, 43 wounded in Basra bombing attack

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq:

The death toll from the car bomb explosion in western Basra on Monday rose to 10, while 43 others were wounded, medical sources.

“The death toll from the explosion by a car bomb on al-Maared road in al-Qebla region, western Basra, rose to 10,” a medical source from the al-Teb al-Adli hospital in Basra told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The number of wounded people went up to 43,” a medic from the al-Sadr hospital said.

Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad.

IED leaves five casualties in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and four others were wounded in an improvised explosive device blast in north of Baaquba, a security source said Monday.

“The bomb exploded targeting a civilian vehicle in al-Koubat region, central Khales, north of Baaquba, killing the driver and injuring four more,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He gave no further details.

Baaquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

Najaf attack kills 8, wounds 31

NAJAF / Aswat al-Iraq:

The car bomb explosion that took place on Monday in Najaf killed eight people and wounded 31, according to a director of Najaf governor.

“The final toll of the car bomb blast that targeted Iranian visitors on Monday in al-Madina street, has reached eight dead, including six Iraqis and two visitors, and 31 wounded,” Faez Shaaban told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Najaf lies 160 km south of Baghdad.

Karbala casualties rise to 50

KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Casualties from the explosion that took place in Karbala on Monday rose to eight dead and 42 wounded, according to a medical source.

“The Karbala blast final toll reached eight dead and 42 wounded,” the source from the al-Hussein educational hospital told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “Two unidentified men, four Iraqis and two Iranian visitors are among the dead people,” he added.

“The wounded people includes 32 Iranian visitors and ten Iraqis, including two children,” the source explained. A security source had said earlier that a car rigged with explosives went off in Bab Towirij region targeting a buss carrying Iranian visitors, leaving scores of casualties. Karbala is 110 km south of Baghdad.

Civilian killed, 2 persons injured in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and two persons were wounded Monday in a bomb blast in western Mosul, according to a security source.

“A roadside bomb exploded Monday morning (Nov. 8) targeting a police vehicle patrol in al-Maash market, western Mosul, killing a civilian and injuring two, including a policeman,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not give more details.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
