Scandal Engulfs Anti-Islam Dutch Party of Fert Wilders

Press TV, Fri Nov 26, 2010 2:48PM

Five members of the Netherland's far-right People's Party for Freedom (PVV) have been found to have criminal records, a report says.

PVV leader, Geert Wilders, said on Friday that he was "totally sick of the media focus on MPs from his party and would no longer comment on individual cases," the Dutch television channel RTL reported.

A prominent PVV member, Jhim van Bemmel, has been accused of fraud for forging freight documents in 2006 and a conviction for drunk driving dating back to 2000.

Wilders stripped Bemmel of some of his duties. Bemmel said he had not gone public about his past crimes because "it was a private issue."

"This digging around in the past of PVV MPs is beginning to seem like a vulgar witch-hunt," Wilders said.

"... of course I will deal with it if PVV MPs have made mistakes, but the media can go in the freezer for the moment. I want a return to normality and will not react on every incident," he said.

According to RTL, Liberal Party (VVD) lawmaker Toni Elias and Socialist Party (SP) parliamentarian Paul Ulenbelt, were found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol in 1981 and 1976, respectively.

Wilders made headlines worldwide in March 2008 after making the anti-Islam film, Fitna. The movie prompted angry protests across the world.

(However, Wilders found support by Zionists and their agents in the US. They invited him even to the US Congress to express their support and admiration for his hate mongering. His anti-Islam campaign was used to justify the Bush  global war to subjugate the Muslim World for Israel).

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described Wilders' movie as “offensively anti-Islamic.” The European Parliament also banned the screening of the film, saying it provoked hatred.

Polls indicate that the popularity of the anti-Islam PVV has considerably declined with the party losing five seats in the parliament over the past three weeks.
