Israeli plans to evacuate and demolish Palestinian buildings in Silwan and Bustan

Lawyer Qais Nasser, a specialist in settlement affairs, unveiled two new Israeli occupation government plans to evacuate and demolish Palestinian buildings in the neighborhoods of Silwan and Al-Bustan in occupied Jerusalem.

Qais affirmed in a press release on Monday that the first plan is to turn Al-Bustan zone into a Jewish archeological and tourist place, adding that there are 88 Palestinian buildings in this neighborhood, most of them received demolition and shutdown orders from the Israeli municipal council.

He also said that the second plan will be carried out against the Palestinians in Silwan neighborhood, where the Israeli occupation goverment intends to demolish 20 buildings that have more than five floors.

The lawyer underlined that these plans are intended for thwarting any attempt to protect the buildings threatened with demolition, especially since Al-Bustan residents submitted architectural blueprints for their neighborhood to the Israeli municipal council.

The lawyer added that the plans are not only aimed at evacuating the Palestinian buildings, but also at keeping the settlers’ house called Ehuntan in Silwan, which the municipal council did not close until this day despite a decision issued in this regard by the Israeli higher court.

Meanwhile, the Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage said the Israeli news reports about carrying out new Judaization projects around the Aqsa Mosque is a declaration of hysterical war on the Mosque and Jerusalem.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported Sunday in this regard that the Israeli committee of planning and building affiliated with the municipal council intends to discuss big plans to build structures in the old city of Jerusalem and around the Aqsa Mosque.

The Aqsa foundation explained that these plans include the establishment of a huge building on an area of 8,000 square meters consisting of floors and parking lots underground at the entrance to Wadi Hilwa, few meters away from the Aqsa Mosque, as well as a new tunnel extending from there to Al-Maghariba gate.

It added that there are other plans to expand the Buraq plaza and build a number of roofed structures adjacent to the western wall of the Aqsa Mosque and another building not far away from the wall that includes a center for Israeli troops.

The foundation also pointed out to plans to build a building on an area of more than 3, 000 square meters in the far western side of the Buraq plaza in addition to a Talmudic institute in the same area and other religious structures south of the Aqsa Mosque, specifically in the area of Umayyad Emirate.
