Civilian killed, 3 wounded in Diala blast

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: One man was killed and three others were injured in an explosive charge blast in Diala, a local security source said on Wednesday.

“This afternoon, an explosive device detonated in al-Majarra village, al-Khales district (15 km north of Baaquba), killing one civilian and wounding three others,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The source did not provide further details.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

3, including cop, killed in Ramadi blast

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: Three persons, including a policeman, have been killed in an explosive charge blast in Ramadi, a local security source said on Wednesday.

“An explosive device detonated near the house of a policeman in downtown Hit, western Ramadi, killing three persons, including a cop,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. A security cordon has been thrown around the scene, the source pointed out, providing no further details.

Ramadi, the capital city of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

Hand grenade kills civilian, injures 2 in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed and two more were wounded in a hand grenade explosion in central Mosul on Wednesday, a source from the Ninewa Operations Command said.

“Unknown gunmen threw a hand grenade on a police vehicle patrol in al-Kourniesh street, central Mosul, killing a civilian and wounding a policeman and another civilian,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

5 army soldiers killed in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Five army soldiers were killed in an armed attack in southwestern Baghdad, a police source said on Wednesday.

“Unknown gunmen attacked an army checkpoint in al-Radwaniya neighborhood in southwestern Baghdad, killing five servicemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not give further details.
