US Demands Investigation of Israeli Attack on American Peace Activist, Emily Henochowicz, Who Lost her Eye by Trigger-Happy Israeli Soldiers USA demands investigation for injury of American woman [ 07/06/2010 - 06:34 PM ] OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The U.S. embassy in Israel announced on Monday that the United States demands that Israel investigates the case of a young American woman who was injured when Israeli occupation forces fired teargas canisters at her in the West Bank. 21-year-old Emily Henochowicz lost an eye from a tear-gas bomb during her participation in a demonstration at the Kalandia Crossing border near Ramallah last week. The U.S. Embassy has demanded that the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs opens an investigation in this case according to what U.S. embassy spokesman, Kurt Hoyer, told AFP. Hoyer said that whenever a U.S. citizen is hurt, the U.S. wants to know how it happened, describing the demand on Israel as "a normal procedure." The young woman along with other foreigners were taking part in a demonstration to protest Israel's attack on the fleet of aid headed for the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of nine Turks. The International Solidarity Movement in support of Palestine reported that Soren Johansen – an international activist – said, "Israeli border guards fired tear gas canisters at us," two of which landed near Emily, and the third of which hit her face. The Israeli military denied firing tear gas canisters directly at demonstrators, pointing out that the young American was wounded in the face after a canister bounced off the wall.
