Assad, Erdogan: Israel must pay a price for its crime [ 07/06/2010 - 06:28 PM ] ANKARA, (PIC)-- Visiting Syrian president and Turkish premier Recep Erdogan have renewed their condemnation of the Israeli bloody attack on the Freedom Flotilla, saying it reflected the aggressive nature of Israel. In a joint press conference in Ankara on Monday, Assad described the attack on the Flotilla as a "brutal crime", charging that Israeli forces deliberately killed the unarmed solidarity activists. For his part, Erdogan said that Israel would pay the price for the bloodshed, adding that the Israeli pretexts regarding the attack would not convince anyone. Describing the world condemnation of the "criminal act" as not enough, he called for the formation of an independent international committee to investigate the crime. He said that the crime should not pass unpunished, calling for firm reactions against Israel. The Turkish premier also said that it was wrong to describe Hamas as a "terrorist" movement.
