Israeli Occupation Soldiers Beat Peace Activists in Bil'in, Illegal Settlers Burn Palestinian Cars in Beit Ummar IOF soldiers quell anti settlement march, settlers burn Palestinian cars [ 03/07/2010 - 02:33 PM ] AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and illegal Zionist Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian weekly peaceful march that was organized by activists and farmers in Beit Ummar, north of Al-Khalil, on Saturday. Local sources said that the march was organized near the illegal Israeli settlement of Karmei Tsur and was quelled by teargas bombs and stun grenades. Demonstrators used horns to disturb settlers in a show of rejection of the settlement activity on their land while hoisting Palestinian and Turkish flags and approached the settlement's gate. The IOF soldiers accompanied the Zionist settlers in their assault on the marchers and the journalists accompanying them, and declared the area a closed military zone. In another incident, Zionist settlers in Al-Khalil city burnt two Palestinian civilian cars in downtown Al-Khalil on Friday night, Palestinian sources in the city reported. Confrontations in Bil'in between protesters and the IOF [ 02/07/2010 - 03:54 PM ] BILIN, (PIC)-- IOF troops confronted the weekly anti-wall demonstration by firing tear-gas and rubber-coated bullets causing tens of protesters to suffer breathing difficulties. Local residents, peace activists and foreign sympathisers participated in the demonstration which was called for by the Popular Committee to Resist the Wall in Bil'in. Participants raised the Palestinian flag and the photos of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and Yaser Arafat, as well as placards condemning the expansion of settlements and the demolition of Jerusalem homes. Protestors called for a stop to the Israeli occupation policy of deportation and called for freeing all prisoners and lifting the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. They also called for national unity and for holding to the Palestinian rights. As the demonstrators approached the wall and tried to reach the village's confiscated land IOF troops who barricaded themselves behind concrete blocks started to fire rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear-gas canisters at the demonstrators causing breathing difficulties to tens of demonstrators and starting fires in a number of fields that belong to the residents of the village.
