36 Iraqis Killed, 71 Injured in Initial Count of 3 Baghdad Hotel Explosions

Yaqen.net reported that about 100 people were killed and about 200 people were injured in the three Baghdad blasts today, targeting the Meredian, Ashtar, and Sheraton hotels.

Toll from Baghdad blasts increases to 36 killed, 71 wounded

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

The three blasts that targeted major hotels in Baghdad on Monday left 36 people dead, and 71 others wounded.

A source from the Iraqi police noted that in addition to the hotels targeted, houses and cars close to the blast location were damaged.

He continued, stating some of the injured remain in serious condition.

11 Killed, 20 Wounded in Baghdad Explosions

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

At least eleven civilians were killed and 20 others were wounded in the series of explosions that targeted three hotels in Baghdad, a police source said.

“Three car bombs went off near Babel, al-Hamraa and Sheraton hotels, killing 11 and injuring 20 and damaging the hotels,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Policemen sealed off the regions, while ambulances rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals for treatment,” he added, giving no more details.

A source from the U.S. embassy has confirmed the blasts, saying they rocked the offices of the building.

2 blasts rock downtown Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two blasts have hit two separate places in downtown Baghdad, eyewitness said on Monday.

“One of the bombings occurred in al-Firdaws Square near the Palestine Hotel, while the other occurred near Babel Hotel, close to the Green Zone,” an eyewitness told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Ambulances rushed to the scenes of the blasts, according to the same eyewitness.

A source from the U.S. embassy has confirmed the blasts, saying they rocked the offices of the building.
