Nine Taliban fighters killed in Mohmand clashes The Daily Times (Pak) , Friday, January 22, 2010 BARA: Clashes between the (Pakistani) security forces and (Taliban fightes) left at least nine (Taliban fighters) dead in Mohmand Agency during the last 24 hours, an FC spokesman said on Thursday. The forces engaged (Taliban fightes) at several hideouts with helicopter gunships in the Matta, Bahadar Killi in Suran Valley, Mathai Chaqorai Markaz, Methai Markaz, Jarobai Dara, Gulmain, Shamshah and Shandara areas of the tribal region. A (Taliban fighte) was killed while planting an improvised explosive device on the Narai-Zara Road. He was later identified as Malikhel resident Miraj Ali, son of Dawa Haji. Separately, the security forces seized a vehicle driven by Abdur Rehman in Michni Post area of Khyber Agency and seized four sub-machineguns, 10 pistols and RDX. Bodies of five (Taliban fightes) were found from Jokhotai area of Khawazakhela tehsil in Swat district, sources said. In Bara tehsil, terrorists attacked a security forces convoy with rockets but no casualties were reported, while five suspected attackers were arrested. app/staff report Three killed, 20 hurt in Bajaur blast KHAR: A roadside bomb on Thursday killed two anti-Taliban tribal elders and a woman travelling on a bus in Salarzai district of Bajaur Agency, officials said, adding that 20 other passengers were injured. “It was an improvised explosive device which exploded as the bus headed to the region’s main town of Khar,” local government official Mazhar Ali said. Senior administration official Abdul Kabir said one woman died on the spot while “two others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital”.
