Woman, child killed, 11 civilians injured south of Kut

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq:

A woman and a child were killed and eleven persons were wounded in a tribal conflict in south of Kut, according to a security source.

“A tribal conflict flared up on Tuesday between al-Shahman and al-Gharieb tribes in the markers region in al-Hay district, south of Kut, during which one woman and a child were killed and eleven civilians were wounded,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wounded were rushed to al-Karama hospital in southern Kut for treatment, while the two bodies were sent to the forensic medicine department,” he explained.

Kut, the capital of Wassit, is 180 km southeast of Baghdad.

6 civilians killed, wounded by roadside bomb in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and five were wounded by a roadside bomb blast in eastern Mosul, according to a security source.

“The bomb exploded on Tuesday evening (Feb. 9) in al-Karama region in eastern Mosul, killing one civilian and injuring five,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The bomb went off without targeting any military convoys or patrols,” he added, noting that the wounded were taken to al-Salam hospital for treatment.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad.

IED injures 2 civilians in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two civilians were wounded on Tuesday by an improvised explosive device blast in northern Mosul, according to a security source.

“The bomb exploded on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 9) targeting an army vehicle patrol in al-Rashidiya region, northern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The explosion wounded two passing civilians, who were carried to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he added.

He did not add further details.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad.

Blast in Mosul leaves woman wounded

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One woman was wounded on Tuesday when a roadside bomb went off in western Mosul city.

“The incident occurred in front of a house in western Mosul,” a police source from Ninewa province told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He said that the woman lives in the house. The source did not mention why the house was targeted.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Man killed, wife wounded in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A government employee was killed and his wife was injured in an armed attack in northern Baghdad, a police source said on Tuesday.

“Last night, unknown gunmen attacked a civilian vehicle driven by Mohammed Fakhry, an employee working for the Water Resources Ministry, who was accompanied by his wife,” the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The attack, which killed Fakhry and wounded his wife, occurred in al-Adhamiya neighborhood, northern Baghdad, the source noted. Meanwhile, other gunmen opened fire on an engineer who works in the Iraqi Parliament, Ali Mohammed Qassem, while he was driving his car on Mohammed al-Qassem highway in eastern Baghdad. Qassem was severely wounded in the attack, the source added.

6 al-Qaeda gunmen killed in Makhmour

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Six al-Qaeda gunmen were killed and one soldier was wounded on Monday in clashes between Iraqi army and gunmen in south of Makhmour district, an army source said.

“A number of al-Qaeda gunmen attacked an army’s checkpoint near Bayoula village, south of Makhmour on Monday afternoon (Feb. 8),” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Six gunmen were killed and one soldier was wounded in the clashes,” the source added.

He gave no more details.

Makhmour is one of the disputed areas between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). It is administratively affiliated with Ninewa province and lies 63 km southwest of Arbil, the capital city of Kurdistan, which is 362 km northeast of Baghdad.

Civilian wounded in Anbar blast

ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian has been injured in an explosive charge blast in Anbar, a local police source said on Monday.

“This morning, an explosive device detonated near a house in Rawa district, western Anbar, wounding one civilian who was close to the scene of the blast,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Security forces blocked off all roads leading to the scene and took the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment, the source added.

Ramadi, the capital of Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

Civilian killed, 3 wounded in Baghdad blast

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed and three others were injured in an explosive charge blast in the capital Baghdad, a local police source said on Monday.

“This morning, a sticky device hit a civilian vehicle on a bridge linking al-Jadiriya to al-Doura area, southern Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding three others,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
