Israeli Occupation Army Attacks Protest In Hebron

Israeli occupation soldiers attacked on Thursday evening a protest organized by the Palestinian Peoplea Party and the Youth Assembly Against Settlements to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre. At least sixteen residents were wounded.

The protest was held at the southern entrance of Al-Shuhada Street that was closed by the Israeli army since the massacre.

The protest started from Al-Nahda School in Abu Sneina neighborhood near the Ibrahimi Mosque. The protesters marched towards the Al-Shuhada Street and the Vegetables Market, both closed by the Israeli military since the massacre.

Israeli and International peace activists participated in the protest, along with activists of the Palestinian Peoples Party and other factions.

Members of Al-Balad Party in Israel, and Palestinian Legislator Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi participated in the event.

The protestors chanted “no peace with settlements”, “Stop racial discrimination in Hebron”, “Obama, stop the blindfolded support to Israel”, “The Ibrahimi Mosque is an Arab, Muslim holy sites”, and several other chants.

The Israeli army attacked the protesters on Thursday evening and kidnapped one Palestinian and two Israeli peace activists.
Reporter Hisham Sharabati of the Youth Assembly Against Settlements, said that the protest was organized by the Assembly and the Palestinian People Party, and that parallel protests were held in 25 cities around the world, including New York in the United States, Berlin in Germany.

The protestors also chanted against Israel’s decision to consider the mosque as part of the so-called Jewish Heritage Trail.

Israeli soldiers kidnapped a foreign reporter working for the France Press, and violently attacked a Palestinian reporter. Another Palestinian reporter, Abdul-Ghani Al-Natsha, fainted after inhaling gas fired by the army.

The attacked Palestinian reporter, Nasser Al-Shiokhy, is also accused of attacking a Jewish settler two months ago.

Palestinian nonviolent protestors Gased in Nabi Saleh

In the town of Nabi Saleh, Israeli occupation forces responded to a peaceful march with tear gas and rubber coated steel bullets.

The march began after Friday prayers, hundreds of citizens attended the procession including peace activists and internationals in solidarity with Palestinians.


Those marching waved Palestinian flags along with pictures of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, and the Mosque of Bilal Bin Rabah in Bethlehem, protesting the Judaizing of sanctuaries and demanding access to confiscated land.


A number of those attending the march suffered complications from tear gas inhalation and gun shot wounds.

Israel has declared that it has included these two shrines as part of the Jewish heritage collection, which created an uproar among Palestinians, and especially the Muslim community.

Protest in al-Ma’asara Met With Increased Aggression

Following an incursion into the village of al-Ma’asara, at 2 a.m. Friday morning, the villagers of al-Ma’sara marched towards the construction site of the Israeli built wall that annexes their land.

In a predawn invasion Mahamad Brijia, a member of the Popular Committee Against The Wall and Settlement Construction was removed from his home while Israeli troops conducted a search of the building.

The military threatened Mahamad, and other members of the committee with arrest if they continue to organize and attend protests.

Despite these actions, the protest was continued, but was met with an increase in hostilities, local sources reported.

As the protestors attempted to exit the village, towards the construction site, they found the road closed by the Israeli military and were fired upon by troops stationed on roof tops. The military fire included the use of tear gas canisters, sound bombs, and rubber coated steel bullets.
