Hamas denies involvement of of its cadre, Nehru Masaud, in the assassination of Al-Mabhouh

 [ 19/02/2010 - 05:27 PM ]

DAMASCUS, (PIC)--

Hamas firmly denied involvement of Nehru Masaud, one of its cadres, in the assassination of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh, stressing that such claims are pure Zionist fabrications and are an attempt to divert the attention from the responsibility of the Mossad for the crime.

In a statement issued by the information office of Hamas on Thursday, the movement said that claims about the involvement of Masaud as circulate in the Israeli press and parroted by some Arabic media are false and baseless.

The movement stressed that Masaud was a Hamas cadre and that he was not detained or questioned by anyone.

Meanwhile, Masaud himself told Aqsa satellite channel on Friday that rumours which originated in the Israeli press about him and which are spread by Fatah media were baseless, but were consistent with Fatah's policy of defaming Hamas and the resistance in general.

Masaud further said that the Fatah propaganda machine first said that he was detained in the UAE, then they said he was detained in Damascus, adding that he was not detained in either country.

He added that Fatah was trying cover for the fact that some former PA security officers were involved with the Mossad in this crime.
