sole power plant will cease functioning in a matter of hours due to the
ongoing brutal Israeli blockade, preventing basic supplies including
fuel needed to run the generators, from entering Gaza. Gaza power crisis deepening [ 14/02/2010 - 11:19 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian energy authority said that it shut down Friday evening one of the generators in Gaza power plant because of fuel depletion resulting from Israel’s restrictions imposed on fuel shipments. The authority warned Saturday that the remaining amount of fuel is sufficient to run a single unit for a few hours, adding that the power plant’s capacity declined to 30 megawatt and there will be a deficit of 50 percent in power supply. It appealed to international, humanitarian parties, Arab countries and the organization of Islamic conference to end the electricity crisis in Gaza.
