Mufti of Palestine, Shaikh Muhammed Hussain, Warns of Relentless Israeli Attempts to Demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque Through Continuous Underneath Excavations

Hussain: Arab summit should support Jerusalem and holy shrines

[ 10/02/2010 - 05:51 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

The Mufti of Palestine Shaikh Mohammed Hussain has warned Wednesday that the Israeli occupation government  (IOG) is relentlessly attempting to demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple on its ruins through the excavation activities under Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound.

In a statement he issued in this regard, Hussain underscored that the Israeli digging didn’t come to a halt even for a while and that it increased noticeably in the recent months.

"The landslides that occurred at the Hitta gate at the northern corner of the Aqsa Mosque highlights the danger those diggings pose to the Mosque", the Mufti said, underlining that at the time the IOA goes ahead with the excavations, it bans Muslims from renovating the damaged portions of the Aqsa Mosque.

He underscored, "Indeed, the policy of the IOG doesn’t stop at the excavations, but it goes beyond that with the aim to completely judaize the city of Jerusalem and to demolish as many Palestinian homes as they could".

In this regard, Shaikh Hussain called on Arab leaders set to convene for the next Arab summit in Libya, and the OIC to get rid of their passiveness, and to take the necessary steps to protect the Aqsa Mosque and to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the city.

In a related matter, Palestinian lawmaker MP Ahmed Atton of Jerusalem district, who is held in Israeli jails without charges, strongly deprecated the IOG for closing three charities in the town of Sur Baher in Jerusalem city.

He accused the IOG of conspiring to suffocate the Palestinian Jerusalemites and to deny them any services that could enhance their steadfastness against the occupation, stressing that the three societies were educational charities managing kindergarten schools and educational centers.

"Indeed, this kind of behavior indicates that the IOG targets the Muslim presence in the city because it wants to turn it into a pure Jewish city", Atton warned. He also called on all concerned Arab and Muslim countries and governments to mobilize to bloc the IOA practices against the holy city.
