He did not give further details on the incident. Mosul, the capital city of the violence-stricken multi-ethnic province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) Ninewa governor survives assassination August 8, 2010 - 10:56:18 NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: The Ninewa Governor Atheel al-Nejeifi survived an assassination attempt on Sunday when a roadside bomb hit his motorcade in central Mosul city. “The blast occurred at the intersection of the 4th Bridge, near the governor’s residency,” a local police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He noted that the blast caused no casualties. The source explained that minutes after the blast that targeted Gov. Nejeifi, a roadside bomb went off in the same location targeting a police patrol. “Two police officers, one of them a brigadier, and one cop were all wounded in the second blast,” he added.
