7 Sahwa fighters killed east of Ba'aquba

Seven Sahwa fighters (recruited by US forces) were killed on Thursday by gunmen in east of Baaquba, according to a security source.

“Unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint in al-Arabda village, Mansouriyat al-Jabal district, in al-Muqdadiya, east of Baaquba, where they killed seven Sahwa fighters,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Ba'aquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

Civilian killed, 4 wounded in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian was killed and four others were wounded on Wednesday in a bomb blast in southern Baghdad, according to a police source.

“The bomb exploded on Wednesday evening (Aug. 25) inside a supermarket in Badr village in al-Mahmoudiya district, southern Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The explosion caused severe material damage to nearby houses and stores,” he added.

5 explosions wound 13 people southwest of Ba'aquba

A total of 13 people were wounded Wednesday in five explosions in southwest of Ba'aquba, according to a security source.

“Five explosive charges went off on Wednesday (Aug. 25) in separate areas of Baladruz district, southwest of Baaquba, wounding 13 persons, some of them are in critical condition,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The attacks damaged four stores and five vehicles,” he added, without giving further details.
Ba'aquba, the capital of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
