Israeli TV screens joint drill with US marines

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) --

Israel's Channel 2 TV aired previously unseen footage Sunday of a joint military drill by US marines and Israeli occupation forces at a base in the Naqab (Negev) desert, a day earlier.

The drill simulated the occupation of a village in the region. The participating marines were reportedly preparing for deployment in Afghanistan.

Channel 2 reported that US-Israel military ties were "not confined to joint drills," as both armies may find themselves fighting against a "common enemy" as a result of instability in the Middle East.

The Israeli daily Haaretz reported Sunday that Defense Minister Ehud Barak gave the go-ahead for the purchase of 20 F-35 fighter jets in a deal valued at $2.75 billion, with the first planes expected to arrive in 2015.

How can Israelis purchase US weapons while they receive billions of dollars in annual aid? It's more likely to be part of the aid packages that the Congress rubber stamp routinely.

Zionists in the US have succeeded in dragging the US to fight Israeli wars against Arabs and Muslims to maintain the Israeli hegemony in the region. It's not in the interests of the US to fight these Israeli wars despite the Israeli false claims that Muslims are common enemies of both the US and Israel.

Finally, are these drills for more escalation in Afghanistan, or probably a new invasion and occupation of a Muslim country, ... Iran?
