Gunmen kill four family members in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq:

 Four persons from the same family were killed on Monday by an armed group in northern Wassit, according to a security source.

“A group of gunmen attacked a house in al-Duwaiyjat region in al-Suweira district, north of Kut, and killed four of the family,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“Preliminary investigation indicate that the dead people are a man, his wife and their two daughters,” the source said, noting that they used guns with silencer in their attack.

He gave no further details.

Kut, the capital of Wassit, is 180 km southeast of Baghdad.

Unknown body found in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Police forces on Monday found an unidentified body in Mosul City, a local security source said on Monday.

“The body, which bore signs of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, was found in Khazraj area, downtown Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The corpse has been taken to the local morgue, the source added.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

2 policemen killed in Basra blast

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Two Iraqi cops have been killed in an explosive charge blast in Basra, a local police source said on Monday.

“An improvised explosive device (IED) hit an Iraqi police patrol vehicle accompanying a U.S. patrol in al-Shalamija area (10 km east of Basra), killing two policemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Joint Iraqi and U.S. forces routinely patrol Shalamija area close to the Iranian border.

The Shiite province of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Civilian gunned down in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One civilian has been killed by gunmen in Mosul City, a local police source said on Monday.

“During a late hour on Sunday (April 4) evening, one civilian was killed in front of his house in al-Qahira neighborhood (northern Mosul) by gunmen who were driving a motorbike…,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The body has been taken to the local morgue, the source pointed out.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Three Car Bomb Explosions in Baghdad

The death toll from three explosions rocked the capital before noon today escalated to more than 180 people dead or wounded according to the media sources. 

Three car blasts driven by people exploded in three regions in central Baghdad killed 30 people and wounded more than 150 others, mostly very critical, at a time when the Baghdad Health Directorate has announced that the outcome of explosions was more than 201 people killed and injured.

The sources said first car bomb exploded near a building "Jadraji" in Mansour district,  second exploded near the home of the German ambassador in Mansour also, while the third exploded near the Iranian embassy in "Salihiya."

Baghdad’s toll reaches 30 dead, 168 wounded persons

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Casualties from the blasts that rocked the capital Baghdad earlier today have reached 30 dead and 168 wounded persons, a police source said on Sunday.

“Police forces arrested a suicide bomber before he could detonate a fourth car bomb in al-Masbah area, downtown Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Earlier today, a spokesperson for the Baghdad Operations Command (BOC), Maj Gen. Qassem Ata, said that 17 persons were killed and 140 others were wounded in the three car bombs that hit Baghdad’s neighborhoods of al-Mansour and al-Salihiya.

The explosions occurred near the Shooting Club, al-Rowwad intersection and the Iranian embassy in al-Salihiya, Ata added.

Casualties from Mosul blast reach 40

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Three persons were killed and 37 others were wounded in the car bomb blast that hit Ninewa’s Mosul City earlier today, a local police source said on Sunday.

Earlier today, a police source said that one person was killed and 23 others were injured in the car bomb blast that targeted a Federal Police patrol in Wadi Hajar area, southern Mosul.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
