24 Iraqi Members of Two Families Massacred by Gunmen Wearing Army Uniform, a Week After the Maliki Warning

April 3, 2010

Aljazeera tv station reported that 24 people were massacred south of Baghdad today by gunmen wearing Iraqi army uniform. This comes about a week after prime minister Maliki demanded an election recount. He also warned that if the recount does not happen, sectarian violence may come back.

Al-Iraqia coalition of Iyad Allawi considered Maliki's warning as a threat of the return to sectarian violence to continue control over the country.

This massacre could be the start of a new round of the orchestrated "creative chaos", referred to in the media as "sectarian violence," which allowed the Maliki coalition to rule Iraq, under the US occupation.

“A curfew was announced in the area as a search raid launched resulted in the arrest of 17 suspects,” Atta added.

Meanwhile, another security source told Aswat al-Iraq that the gunmen “were clad in military uniform,” not giving further information.
