Obama to address Muslim world in Egypt on June 4 2009-05-09 05:14:36 WASHINGTON, May 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will deliver an important policy speech to the Muslim world when he visits Egypt on June 4, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs announced on Friday. Asked why Egypt was chosen for the June 4 speech, Gibbs said: "It is a country that in may ways represents the heart of the Arab world." "This is a continuing effort of the president to engage the Muslim world. The president has high hopes for a stronger relationship," Gibbs added. Obama, who took office on Jan. 20, calls for peace and dialogue with the Muslim world. He promised during the presidential campaign to improve U.S.-Arab relations damaged by the previous administration under his predecessor George W. Bush in the past eight years. Following his visit to Egypt, Obama will also travel to Germany and France, where he is going to attend events marking the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings by Allied Forces in World War II.
