Israeli Interior Minister confirms support to illegal settlement outposts in Silwan Monday May 04, 2009 10:35 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies Hatim Abdul-Qader, Jerusalem Affairs Advisor to the Palestinian Prime Minister, sated that Israel’s vice Prime Minster, Interior Minister, Eli Yisha, stated during a Sunday night meeting with extremist settler groups at a Palestinian home illegally captured in Silwan town, in East Jerusalem, that his government will approve all illegal settlement plans provided by illegal settlers groups. During the meeting, Yishai expressed support to the illegal settlement activities on Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem, especially in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Abdul-Qader said that Yishai informed the extremist settlers that he approves of their plans, including the constructions of tunnels, bridges and Talmud gardens. Abdul-Qader also stated that Yishai told the settlers that he will resort to different departments and ministries in order to change the situation in Silwan, and decrease the number of Palestinian residents as much as possible. Yishai further said that his government will boost settlement activities and will approve different plans put forth by settlers’ organizations. Abdul-Qader described the statements of Yishai as racist, and added that they reflect the real agenda of the Netanyahu government. He added that such statements cannot be ignored, and that the International Community must act and stop all Israeli settlement activities as they would drag the area into an endless cycle of violence. Abdul-Qader said that the Palestinians will remain steadfast in their homes and lands, and will never bow to Israeli threats and illegal plans.
