35 Iraqis Killed, 72 Injured in a Baghdad Explosion, US Soldier Killed in Ramadi, May 20, 2009 Aljazeera TV reported that 35 Iraqis were killed, 72 were injured in an explosion in Al-Shu'ala area, in Baghdad today. Yaqen.net reported the following news: - 2 Iraqis were killed, ten were injured in a car bomb explosion in Al-Shu'ala neighborhood, in Baghdad. - A US soldier was killed by an Iraqi sniper in Al-Ramadi today. - Four Iraqi soldiers were injured by a mortar attack in Al-Ramadi. - A US Hummer vehicle was destroyed by a roadside bomb in Al-Ramadi. - 23 Iraqis were arrested by the Iraqi army soldiers in Wassit, Najaf, Ba'aqouba, and Diala Province. - Corpses of a man and a woman were found in Mosul. ================== 35 killed, 72 wounded in Baghdad blast May 20, 2009 - 06:49:04 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Thirty-five persons on Wednesday were killed and 72 others were wounded in a car bomb blast that ripped through the Iraqi capital, according to a police source. “A booby-trapped car parked next to a popular restaurant near al-Sadriyeen intersection of Baghdad’s al-Shula area killed 35 persons and injured 72 others,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. The blast caused serious damage to nearby buildings and houses and burnt 11 cars, the source added. SS (P)/SR Civilian gunned down in Mosul May 20, 2009 - 04:56:36 NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian on Wednesday was killed by unknown gunmen in Mosul city, according to a local police source. “The civilian was shot down while he was shopping at a vegetable market in Rass al-Jada area, western Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The body was taken to the morgue,” the source noted, providing no further details. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 2 soldiers wounded in blast in Mosul May 20, 2009 - 12:04:10 NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Two Iraqi soldiers were wounded on Wednesday in an improvised explosive device explosion in eastern Mosul, an army source said. “An explosive charge went off on Wednesday (May 20) targeting an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in al-Zahraa neighborhood in eastern Mosul, injuring two soldiers,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The wounded were carried to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he added. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P) Police chief’s bodyguard injured in blast in Kirkuk May 20, 2009 - 07:12:25 KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: One of the bodyguards of the Kirkuk police chief was wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in southern Kirkuk on Wednesday, a source from the joint coordination center said. “An improvised explosive device went off in al-Kourniesh street in southern Kirkuk on Wednesday (May 20) , while a police vehicle patrol was passing, injuring a bodyguard of the Kirkuk police chief,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
