Ahmed Bahar calls for forming international court to prosecute Israeli war criminals [ 05/03/2009 - 09:45 AM ] TEHRAN, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the acting speaker of the PLC (and the supposed to be the Palestinian president now), called Wednesday for forming an international court to prosecute Israeli war criminals for the war crimes and massacres they committed against the Palestinian people, deploring at the same time the arbitrary arrest warrant issued against Sudanese president Omar Al-Bashir while ignoring the real war criminals. During the fourth international conference for the defense and support of the Palestinian people held in Tehran, Dr. Bahar also called for expediting the reconstruction of what was destroyed by Israel and not politicizing this humanitarian issue. The acting speaker condemned the American preconditions for the Gaza reconstruction as unfair to the Palestinian people and a political blackmail at the expense of the displaced and war-torn people of Gaza. He explained to the audience the catastrophic results of the 22-day war on Gaza in which Israel used all kinds of military weapons and more than 1,000 tons of air-dropped bombs and tens of thousands of shells and missiles to kill and wound thousands of Palestinians, the vast majority of them were civilians, children and women. Bahar also noted that it takes a long time to talk about lists of Israeli war crimes, such as the crimes of executing kidnapped civilians and exterminating whole Palestinian families. He underlined that Gaza absorbed the first day of the Israeli aggression on 27/12/2008 when 60 Israeli warplanes bombed more than 130 targets in less than three minutes in order to confuse and destabilize the legitimate Palestinian government and force it to raise the white flag, but everyone was surprised in the second day when the Palestinian police and the ministries embarked on assuming their duties and providing their services to the citizens. The acting speaker emphasized, in another context, the Islamic and Arab identity of occupied Jerusalem, urging the Islamic and Arab leaders to shoulder their responsibilities in support of the holy city and to provide all forms of support to the Jerusalemites in order to be able to stand in the face of the "Zionist entity". Bahar explained that the holy city and Mosque are exposed to the most heinous crime in history through displacing the indigenous Palestinian citizens, seizing lands, expanding settlements and carrying out excavations under the Aqsa Mosque to destabilize its foundations and build the alleged temple on its ruins.
