80 Delegations Participate in Int'l Conference on Palestine

TEHRAN (FNA)-

Iran announced that 80 delegations of prominent world figures from different countries have participated in the 4th International Conference for Support of Palestine in Tehran.

The conference which kicked off here on Wednesday aims to take practical decisions for the liberation of Palestine and helping the oppressed Palestinian people.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference which opened with an address by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Secretary General of the conference Ali Akbar Mohtashamipour said 80 delegations from five world continents have participated in the event.

The participants include human rights activists, university scholars and other figures with different religious backgrounds.

The participants attended the conference with the aim of supporting and defending the oppressed Palestinians and challenging the oppressors, Mohtashamipour reiterated, announcing that participants are scheduled to visit the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, to renew their allegiance.

He also reiterated that the participants came from different parts of the world to express their support for the Palestinians, stress their responsibility towards them and condemn the grave situation imposed by the Israelis on the people of Gaza through besieging the Gaza Strip and waging the 22-day war against them.

Israel's recent military operation in Gaza killed some 1,400 Palestinians. Over 50,000 people were also left homeless in the enclave of 1.5 million. Over 5,500 Palestinians have also been wounded while Israel's casualties in the conflict were put at 13, including 10 military personnel.
