EU Begs Netanyahu to Accept the Two-State Solution, Nothing More Than a Lip Service

 ccun.org, March 28, 2009

Editor's Note:

Data had shown us that NATO governments on both sides of the Atlantic ocean have been under tight Zionist control since World War II. They serve Israelis and their racist state blindly. No politician holding an office in the US, Canada, and the EU dares to criticize the criminal policies and practices of the Zionist state, let alone threatening it.

The following news is more a wishful thinking than reality. European governments do not dare to warn the Zionist state of Israel or do anything to influence it to end its brutal occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Actually, EU politicians, like their counterparts in the US and Canada, compete on who shows more willingness and readiness to serve the Zionist state and fight its wars in the Arab and Muslim worlds.

EU warns Netanyahu: Accept two-state solution or relations would suffer

[ 28/03/2009 - 10:42 AM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

Foreign ministers of the European Union have warned Israeli premier-designate Benjamin Netanyahu that relations between the two parties would suffer a setback if he did not declare support to the two-state solution.

Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot quoted the current chairman of the EU Czech foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg on Saturday as saying "Relations would become very difficult indeed. At one of our next ministerial meetings we would have to discuss what consequences the EU would draw from that."

For his part, German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the two-state solution is at the top of the EU's priorities.

Luxembourg's Jean Asselborn said a long-mooted upgrading of EU-Israeli trade and political ties depended on Israel achieving a peace deal with the Palestinians.

The EU had frozen talks with Israel on elevating commercial ties in January in the wake of the Israeli brutal war on the Gaza Strip in which 1,400 Palestinians were killed and more than 5,000 others were wounded.

The EU is the biggest trade partner of Israel and imports 32% of the total Israeli exports.

EU presses Netanyahu to commit to a two-state solution

Saturday March 28, 2009 02:20 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies

The European Union told the Israeli Prime Minister-designate, Benjamin Netanyahu, on Friday that relations between the European Union and Israel could be at odds if he does not accept a two-state solution.

This week, the Likud Party leader said that his upcoming government would engage in peace talks with the Palestinians, but did not say that he would follow peace policies backed by the United States and the European Union.

Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg stated that the lack of commitment to a two-state solution would make the European-Israeli relations very difficult.

Schwarzenberg, whose country is holding the rotating EU presidency, said that the EU would discuss in one of its upcoming meetings the consequences of Israel’s lack of commitment to a two-state solution.

He also said that the future of EU-Israel trade and political ties depend on the Israeli ability to achieve peace with the Palestinians.

Schwarzenberg added that Israel must know that it cannot just walk away from the peace process, and that upgrading relations with Israel depends on the completion of the peace process.

It is worth mentioning that the EU halted talks on upgrading ties with Israel after the Israeli army carried its offensive against the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, said that achieving a two-state solution must be the most important issue that precedes everything else.

Steinmeier stated cannot be restarted from the beginning, and instead it should advance.

His statements came during talks with EU counterparts in the Czech Republic.

EU reiterates concern over Gaza, support for two states

Date: 27 / 03 / 2009  Time:  17:52
Bethlehem - Ma'an -

The European Union on Wednesday its conviction that peace in the Middle East requires a comprehensive solution through a lasting and just settlement of the conflict.

At remarks at the United Nations and speaking on behalf of the EU, Czech Permanent Represntative to the UN Martin Palous said the EU remains "gravely concerned" by the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has escalated since Israel closed its borders with the besieged strip in response to the abduction of one of its soldiers in the summer of 2007.

Palous reiterated the EU's determination to ensure that all its tracks toward peace are based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the Road Map, and previous agreements reached between the parties.

The EU statement said issues that should be addressed without delay include "a sustained halt of rocket launches towards Israel, the urgent opening of the Gaza crossings on a regular and predictable basis and an effective mechanism to prevent arms and ammunition smuggling to the Gaza Strip."

The EU also condemned planned Israeli settlement activities and the issuing of eviction notices in East Jerusalem.
