IED wounds 2 civilians in Mosul

Two civilians were wounded on Monday in a bomb explosion in central Mosul, a police source said.

“An improvised explosive device went off on Monday (Mar. 23) targeting a police vehicle patrol in al-Arabaa market in central Mosul, injuring two civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the source added.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of Baghdad.

Jalawlaa attack casualties up to 57

The casualties from the suicide bombing attack that took place on Monday in Jalawlaa rose to 27 dead and 30 wounded, according to a security source.

“The casualties from the suicide explosion that took place at a funeral in central Jalawlaa in southwest Khaneqeen, rose to 27 dead and 30 wounded,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The death toll most likely to increase as there is no word on the rest of the victims who were sent to the hospitals of Baaquba and Sulaimaniya,” he added.

A security source had said earlier that at least ten people were killed and 20 others were wounded in the suicide explosion that took place in Jalawlaa district on Monday.

Khaneqeen is 155 km northeast of Baaquba, the capital of Diala, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.

Cop killed, 5 civilians wounded in suicide attack in Mosul

A policeman was killed and five civilians were wounded in a suicide attack in the west of Mosul, the second of its kind in Ninewa, a police source said.

“A suicide bomber blew up an explosive belt strapped to his body in Hassankwi region in Talafar, west of Mosul, killing a cop and injuring five civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

A police source had said earlier that four policemen were wounded in a similar suicide attack in central Mosul.

Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

4 policemen wounded in suicide bombing in Mosul

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up targeting a police patrol of the Emergency Police 3rd Contingent in central Mosul city, wounding four of the patrol’s personnel including the contingent’s commander, a security source from Ninewa province said on Monday.

“The incident took place in Babal-Beedh area, central Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He did not mention further details, but pointed out that the injured were admitted to hospital for treatment.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

13 people killed, 12 wounded in Iraq in 24 hours

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Thirteen people were killed and 12 others were wounded in the violent acts that took place throughout Iraq during the last 24 hours, according to security sources that spoke to Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

In Falluja, a roadside bomb went off on Monday targeting the house of Sheikh Imad al-Halbosi, a senior Sahwa (Awakening) figure, killing eight civilians including two kids, and wounding nine others.

In Mosul, one civilian on Sunday was killed and a child was injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in downtown the city.

Unknown gunmen on Sunday shot a civilian in Raas al-Gaada area, western Mosul, before they fled to an unknown destination.

In Diala, four Iraqi soldiers were killed in an IED blast that targeted their patrol northeast of Baaquba city on Sunday.

In Babel, a police officer on Sunday was wounded when unknown gunmen shot him north of Hilla city.
