Local Palestinians from the village of Umsalamounah, south of Bethlehem, protesting against the Annexation Wall, were joined by international and Israeli supporters as they marched towards the point where the wall is proposed to cross Route 60, barring them from access to any of their lands.

The Israeli military prevented the protestors from reaching their destination by throwing razor wire across the road. As one elderly villager tried to present his case to the soldiers, a scuffle broke out and he was knocked to the ground.
Visibly shaken, he was helped up by other demonstrators but then quickly collapsed from chest pains. After some time, an ambulance arrived and he was stretched across the razor wire as the stand-off continued.

After treatment on the spot by Red Crescent paramedics, he was driven to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the demonstrators, including supportive Israelis and a number of internationals, as well as local children waving flags, continued to chant slogans and argue their case against the military.

Jerusalemites hold Friday prayers in protest camp under occupying reinforcements

Friday March 13, 2009 16:04 by Maram Isid - IMEMC & Agencies

Palestinians in the neighborhood of East Jerusalem, whose houses are being threatened with demolition, held Friday prayers today as an expression of solidarity with citizens and residents, and an absolute rejection of the policies and schemes of the Israeli occupation in the city.

The organizers of the protest and solidarity event said that there was a massive deployment of border guards and police throughout the vicinity of the threatened neighborhoods, but this did not affect the flow of people from various areas to the protest camp.

The organizers emphasized that they will continue these protest events by all available means, and are determined to defend  their lands and homes, whatever sacrifices this entails.

Israeli occupation authorities brought military and police reinforcements into Jerusalem and dispatched a large number of police, soldiers and special units in the streets of surrounding areas and neighborhoods, including the Old City of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, and also set up mobile roadblocks to check the identification of local residents.

Clashes erupt as Israeli occupation terrorist army surrounds home near Ramallah

Bethlehem – Ma’an –

Dozens of Israeli occupation terrorist soldiers invaded the West Bank town of Silwad, near Ramallah, late Thursday evening.

Sodliers arrested Rushdi Mohamad Rushdi Hammad after surrounding his home.

Palestinian security sources said the “Israeli army and undercover units have arrested Hammad and withdrawn from the town after surrounding the home for several hours."

The soldiers had surrounded the home in the area, under the pretext that the Palestinian affiliated with the Fatah-affiliated Al-Aqsa Brigades was hiding inside.

Eyewitnesses told Ma’an that "more than 15 armored vehicles backed by a bulldozer surrounded Rushdi Hamad’s home, claiming that he is 'wanted.'"

Others added that the soldiers have begun to demolish a wall surrounding the house with a bulldozer, threatening to demolish the house itself in the event that the wanted man does not give himself up.
